Flag Day, 6-14-23

Let me just start by saying this is the second time I’ve written this – yup, my IPad lost my first draft. I’ve had this post so planned out for weeks which just proves there’s no sense planning ahead. Here’s a couple pictures that I could find again.

And here’s the quilt called Wedding Day that I hang outside every year and by now, like Rick and me, it’s looking pretty faded and tired. Haha!

We cleaned the haymow so we could have our reception there – we had to rent scaffolding to get to the beams to clean them. Flags were hung from every crossbeam and they’re still there – very dusty and dirty but too hard to get down – most of them are vintage 48 stars flags.

It’s late, I’ve worked outside all day and that’s a wrap!

Happy Happy Anniversary Mary & your hubby 🇺🇸
Looks like it was a fun wedding ❤️
It’s too hot here in the twin cities & the skies are full of smoke. I just read of a fire up near Canadian border but in Mn west of gunflint trail It’s so dry in our state but guessing we’re not alone.

Happy Annniversary. I read the comments and I, too, was at the World’s Fair in MY in 1964. We met up with my Dad’s sister and her family in Garden City, NY. I was 12. Small world afterall.

    1. Kathy

Carolyn, it’s so neat we all had family in that area to go to the fair with. I remember with 6 kids and 2 adults in a station wagon driving all that way having a packed picnic lunch halfway.

  19. Teresa in Indiana

Loved the wedding pics! Such a beautiful couple and venue. The wedding quilt is great! Have a wonderful day.

Congratulations to you both on 26 fun filled years! Where does the time go? We just celebrated 54 years and my wedding peony still blooms every year on that day. Loved seeing the pictures. I hope you have a good day, sun is shining here in MA.

Hi Shelia, We’ll be 54 years in December. No peonies that time of year, but I did have violets in my bouquet which the florist was very able to get and I wanted because my Nana grew them. Happy Anniversary to you, too.

    Happy anniversary ❣️
Hope your year ahead is great for both of you.

  24. Kathy in western NY

Mary these pictures are priceless. You had a barn wedding before they were even popular! Now you can’t even find a barn venue without booking over a year in advance as they are such sought after places around here and in the Finger Lakes area. Love your wedding dress.

  25. Jan Hebert

Happy Anniversary Mary and Rick! Fun pictures, and I chuckle at how much the wedding banner quilt looks just like you two! It’s so funny how many readers went to the World’s Fair in 64! Sun is coming out, going to camp – gotta fix the water heater, AGAIN! Jan in MA

  26. Marilyn Miller

It’s always fun to see your wedding pictures, that wonderfully fun wedding quilt and barn loft all decorated up. I hope you had a great anniversary celebration even if you celebrated only with each other. Dreary here, at present, along the Mississippi. Temps are to be in the 90 ‘s but we’ve been blessed with low humidity so far. Makes all the difference!

  27. Arliene Zeigler
