Not only will I watch WNBA games tonight, I’ll switch back to the 4th of July musical shows. So that means that I’m going to leave a short post right now.
Regarding our problems with the comments and “leave a reply” form, I contacted Richard who said he can’t really pinpoint the problem. So – if YOU are not seeing comments or aren’t able to leave a comment, email me and I will forward to Richard. There has to be a common denominator and we’re going to figure it out.
It was a quiet 4th. I mowed until I heard thunder and then went to the house because I knew Hazel would be nervous. We got 1.33” of rain in a very short period. It is so very wet here.
Remember Alisa who hatched out the fancy chicks and has that sweet kitten named Jerry Reed? Here is her newest bottle baby. That piglet looks like a toy!

And then remember that sweet little sewing machine that I didn’t buy at the thrift store? It got a great home with my friend Rosemary who said with some TLC the little machine is able to stitch.

Off to watch the ballgames! Happy 4th and thanks loads for all the birthday wishes! Sure was fun to hear from so many of you!

Did it work?
Happy Belated Birthday Mary, hope the year ahead is filled with joy. It has rained for 2 days here in the middle of Wisconsin. We did manage to grill on the 4th and our daughter was able to come over and join us. My girlfriend came for a few days to help me unpack some boxes and see the new house. We played a lot of cards and also managed to empty some boxes. It was a nice 4th and now back to unpacking. Love those deep red hollyhocks, what a great color. Hope the Fever plays well tonight.
I find if I read the blog in my email, no comments; but if I read it on the blog, I do get the comments and I can comment. Maybe that will help.
I sure loved seeing that dark burgundy hollyhock. A neighbor of mine used to have some himself. Hope your games went well yesterday.
Happy belated birthday! I have 3 friends from quilt guild with birthdays June 30, July 1, and July 3. Didn’t know it was your birthday too! We had the worst 4th of July in my memory. Weatherman kept saying we’d get rain, but not all day—anytime between 11 and 3. I have a ton of yard work to do so planned to go out around 10 and work an hour or so. Nope, already drizzling. Gave up on the idea and finally took a shower after lunch. Lo and behold, it quit raining later so I went out and worked for an hour. The humidity was 90% and my hair was soaking wet! Had to go in and dry it again. My cousin was coming over ( he lives right behind us). for burgers and corn on the grill—not to be as it started raining again🤬 4th of July cookout in the house=no fun. Well, I made cherry-rhubarb crisp with vanilla ice cream and THAT was excellent! Today’s weather is not looking great, either—bummer. The weeds are way out of control around here with all the rain and heat. Very grateful for air conditioning! THAT is truly a blessing!
Sue – I feel your pain! I mowed the pasture and started another area when I heard the first rumble so I quit because Hazel hates thunder. Later I tried again but it was simply too wet and my zero turn mowers can really dig up the grass. Today it’s cloudy, no wind and soaking wet after 1.3” of rain.
Happy belated birthday to you!
I can finally comment on the blog

Mary, just a suggestion, add your email address to your blog mailing so you can see what folks are talking about. Yes the green button is gone but on the upper right of my email it says ‘Read in Blog or Reader” in very tiny underlined letters. Click on your choice and it sends you to your preference. It takes one right to the blog where the comment section lies at the bottom.
A very belated but sincere, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
Love the birthday celebration(s) photos. They look like a fun day.
This year, I celebrated all month by doing a special little thing just for me every day. Little things such as a new toothbrush or re-potting a houseplant or a favorite item at breakfast. Different each day, but also without fail I added a “gratitude item” to my daily calendar. It was nice to look back at that list of thankfulness at the end of the month. All that may seem like a lot of self-serving, but oftentimes we ladies are so busy with families or working or volunteering, etc, that we neglect ourselves. It felt odd, but special, to treat myself a bit every day, but then good to consider the thankfulness at the end of each day.
Happy Birthday and a wonderful year, Mary.
Good idea.
Happy birthday, Mary!
It was 73 degrees here today. Great for working outside.
I discovered a huge ant hill in my field. Red and black ants. Ukk
We could use some of your rain. It’s very dry here.
It’s almost time for the booms to start. It doesn’t bother Loretta, but wish they would quit at midnight. I always worry about them starting a fire. I’m told the fireworks stands make buko bucks. People spend thousands. One kid that works at one, told me some spend tens of thousands for fireworks!
Enjoy the game, Mary!
I love the “Oh what a beautiful morning “ embroidery and the hollyhocks.
We are camping in the Nebraska panhandle; we went south 75 miles and celebrated today with cousins on a Colorado homestead ranch. It was a great July 4th! Thanks, Mary 🇺🇸

Happy 4th everyone!
Lovely night here in west Michigan.

It’s 112 here, so staying in. Having burgers, pizza, ice cream and watching movie’s & fireworks tonight! Happy 4th of July everyone!
Sue, your quilt is awesome. Looks like it is actually waving. And the maroon hollyhock is so unusual. Just beautiful.
Happy belated birthday Mary
