Happy Birthday, 4-24-24

Today is Keeper’s 2nd birthday! To celebrate, Ivy and Finn came to play – as they do often. Haha! We had some pretty great fun in the grove.

Keeper dug and Finn tried to catch the flying dirt!
Another dead tree just fell on the fence last week – repairs needed!

Hi Mary, happy birthday keeper! It’s 25th in New Zealand, so ANZAC day, dawn parades to commemorate the birth of Australian and new Zealand armies during world War one. It’s very windy today,we are waiting for rain, gardens are getting dry, take care everyone, best wishes from Sandy

Happy birthday to Keeper. The doggie playdate is hilarious. They look like they are having fun. Another windy day here and there were weather warnings of fire danger. We’ve had a fair amount t of rain but the ground is so dry already. Our trees are pretty leafed out. The azaleas are blooming and looking stunning. And oh the stink bugs. I hate them. They get in the house and chew on my plants and they really stink. You have to crush them or flush them. Yuck!
    Happy Thursday to all. Pat

Pat, where are you located? We have some invasive stink bugs here too that they tell us to crush then flush.
Love seeing the dogs having a play date for keepers birthday. Our Eddy’s birthday is Aug 9th and our neighbour got their rescue dog on the same day so we usually have a play date with the two dogs and a special treat. My son bought doggy cupcakes for Eddy’s first birthday. I didn’t even know there was such a thing.

Teresa – I don’t know about doggy Cupcakes either – bet I’d never find them around here.

Hmmmm, trying to catch flying dirt sounds like a fun time!! Happy 2nd birthday to Keeper. Last year in early May, we went to a 2nd birthday party for our neighbor’s dog. It was fun:) The outdoor photos are fun to see. We had some sun and mostly cloudy today. Frost warning for tomorrow AM, but it will warm up.
I am working on getting ready for a retreat starting May 1st, our grand daughter’s graduation from college, Honor Flight quilts, and bindings for three quilts. Busy, busy.
It has to warm up pretty soon, right?

    Happy Birthday, Keeper! 🦴🍦
I love watching dogs play in the dirt; they are just like little boys.
We had a nice sunny day, which worked well, as we took our camper in for repair work. Apparently, winter was harsh enough to cause damage.
    Thanks, Mary 🥰

Jeanie – it was the two boys digging, too. The girls were just exploring

All kids, 2 legged and 4 legged love to play in the dirt! They were having fun. Happy Birthday Keeper.
    We had some rain today.
I’m very busy trying to get quilt jobs done. Many longarmers in Cheyenne have quit quilting for others. I’m not sure why, but it has made me busy.

Seems hard to believe it was three years ago you drove back to the shelter and picked up Keeper to ride back in your car to his forever home. You sure made that dogs day and he still wants to ride next to you. Heartwarming.

Kathy – yes, he is definitely MY dog and the sweetest dog I’ve ever had. When I do have to leave him home, I’ve never seen such a sad face! It’s been almost two years, not three years. I fostered him in June, back to the shelter the end of June, picked him up again in August and kept him.

      1. Kathy in NY

Yup I typed three and not two – I’m wrong. I remember you thought about him being back at the shelter alone as the others were adopted. I love that he shows his sweet side to you every day. What a wonderful story.

Kathy – and once again I am reminded that I didn’t want to get any young dogs because I don’t want to leave them alone.

Hap;py Birthday Keeper! Hope your day was full of puppy fun!!

Love from Miles, Sammie and Nelson

Linda – wouldn’t those 4 have a great time together? Haha! How is Nelson’s leg? Completely back to normal or lasting effects? Will you add another initial to your name so I know which Linda in MI I’m talking to? There are two of you

Good morning Mary – looks like you have a great place for Keepers Birthday party! I have enjoyed seeing the spring garden photos from so many different parts of the country.

Happy birthday Keeperr! It was our son’s birthday yesterday on the 24th also! He’s a keeper also! 😉
Another windy day from the southeast. The guys have planted to fields but will wait until after all the storms to plant the last two.
    Stay safe during the storms!
I am trying something my girls friend told me. Use tilex with clorox spray in your bathroom stool after you have a bm daily and it will stay clean. Well, I have trouble with the hard water line and in the basement bathroom it is really bad because it is not used every day. So, I am giving it a try! I hate having ti us the pumice stone on my stool!

Just wanted to check in and tell all your friends about a new book I just finished reading..Closer to Home by Jill Hannah Anderson. She is a relatively new Minnesota author and this is her 4 th book. This one mentions Mason City Iowa!! Her fiction is based on women dealing with various issues in their lives..they are all set in fictional towns in Minnesota. I have enjoyed them all and I know you all enjoy reading as well as quilting , so I hope you will check this out.

Sandy – I will make note of this book – thanks so much!!

Happy Birthday to Keeper. What fun those boys are having! All the sharing of ideas is interesting. Thanks for the tip about the echinopsis plant from a fellow reader in Arizona. Those blooms are gorgeous! I’ll give that plant a try. Today, a new author to check out from Sandy. Beautiful springtime pictures – the breath of new beginnings. Thanks for sharing, and Mary, for posting. I’m always enjoying the the quilt pictures. Again, Mary, thanks for posting. 🙂
I’ll pass along the title of the book just finished: IN PURSUIT OF HAPPINESS by Jefferey Rosen. It explores the educational background of some of our Forefathers and their understanding of what pursuing happiness meant then as they wrote the Declaration and Constitution.
For those with health issues – prayers for relief and recovery on all levels – mentally, physically, and spiritually. “The road is long, with many a winding turn . . . ” to quote a song. Hang in there!

Jan, I received the coaster today. Thank you, that was so thoughtful of you. It brightens up my table. Marsha

Jan – your book recommendation is above my level I’m afraid! Haha!!!

Happy Birthday to sweet little Keeper. At two years old, you are just a baby. I’ve seen doggy cupcakes before but I can’t remember where – Des Moines? I’ll bet all the dogs slept good last night. Ha
I hope we get all the rain forecasted for the next three days.

  15. Teresa in Indiana

Happy Birthday to Keeper. It looks like everyone enjoyed their time together. I am finally home after 9 days in the hospital. Looking at 6 more weeks of IV antibiotics. Thank goodness for all the prayers and good wishes. Have a good day and stay healthy everyone. ❤️

    1. Mary Etherington Post author

Teresa – oh, thank goodness, you’re home BUT 6 more weeks of IVs? Home health care? How will you manage this? Once again you are a reader I wish I lived closer to so I could help you. I think you could use some cards! Send me your mailing address and your picture – and just a bit about you. We’d all love to cheer you up with cards!!

Hi everyone, loved the dog pictures, Happy Birthday to Keeper. Spent part of yesterday helping clean up a dead tree we cut down. And cutting out five small tree trunks we cut down in January when it was warm. Then made a trip into town so we don’t have to be out driving when it is storming Friday Saturday and Sunday. It is very dry out.
Did a little sorting of fabric scraps. Hopefully do more tomorrow.
Bought myself a 4 inch pruning saw today. Using loppers is getting much harder to do. Just don’t have the upper arm strength I used to have.
    Have a good night ladies.
