Huge Plants, 5-8-25

I had to store a number of plants in the quilt shop over the winter – some required grow lights on a timer. I started moving them outside today – good grief! They’re huge! Is anybody interested in some really big healthy house plants?

The white pot is growing a shrub I started – it stays.

I have 4 spring patterns for you to purchase. Spring got away from me so I narrowed it down to four and then will move on to patriotic patterns.

I know you won’t believe this but I think I sold my last copy of Little Uncle Sam. If you have a copy, will you help me out?

Patterns available – $5 each, cash or check, with a SASE.

The majority of my afternoon was spent at church practicing for a funeral Saturday morning. The man who died was 99 years old and such a nice guy. Our church will miss him – he rarely missed services.

No, I don’t want you to reimburse me. I am sending the patterns out tomorrow.

Thanks, but NO you don’t need to reimburse me. I found out our UPS Depot makes larger copies. I’m going there later this morning. I will send the patterns out today. Have a great spring day. Happy Mother’s Day, too.

The lilacs are in FULL Bloom today. We can smell them everywhere we go. It made me wonder just how long ago they were planted? They must be easy to transplant. Do the wild roses still grow in the Iowa ditches? My Mom used to transplant some by the house. The price was right and money was scarce. God was sure thinking when he made so many beautiful flowering plants and trees.

What is the number of your “Little Uncle Sam?”

When I order one of your patterns featured in theblogs, I always print out the colored picture in the blog to put with the pattern when it arrives.

Spring must be here, maybe, but we’ll all enjoy it whatever happens. Happy Mother’s Day to all.

Betty, It seems like, years ago ,every farm planted lilacs on their property. That certainly seems to be the case here in Wisconsin.

Betty, Never thought of it but, I’m sure you’re right about the windbreak. I know I always see them planted in thick straight long rows on farms around here. You are a font of knowledge! Thanks.

I enjoyed reading about Jeanine’s little quilt group that accomplish so much.
Hoping Jan sends a picture of her hand quilting of Bulleyes. I’m still cutting flannel scraps to make a second quilt as our first one is so loved and used. It’s the machine quilting that takes me the longest.
Lilac Festival begins here today and I remember my mom and I strolling the garden grounds enjoying Mothers Day together at a beautiful park.
Maybe you could sell some plants at the garage sale. I paid $4 on sale for a small almost dead house plant at Lowe’s just to rescue it.

Thank you Kathy. We gave nearly 40 quilts to the hospital last month, so are starting to fill up our totes again with finished quilts. We all enjoy the process and have good fellowship together when we meet once a month.

Mary can I still order Chicken Salad (I think that’s what it was named) and Bullseye? I’m not putting out any plants yet because we can get several frosts yet. We did get a little rain the other day which helps the crops.

Martha – yes, you can order both. All the patterns I showed first are still “out” and can be ordered. Usually Mothers Day is our benchmark to move plants outside. Those by the quilt shop are covered by the entry and honestly they’re too tough to kill, I think. Ha!

I guess your plants in the shop really liked the grow lights! 😳
So sorry to hear about your 99-year-old church friend-he will be so missed. My dad died ten years ago two months from his 96th birthday. I kept saying how could we complain about 95 years, but he was such a sweetheart, and we miss him. He lived alone for 17 years dealing with macular degeneration; since he could not drive, he rode his bike until he was 94. When we three siblings are together, we talk and laugh about Dad and some of his quirks, which have become endearments. Sorry this is too long.
    Thanks, Mary 🥰

Jeanie – it’s never too long and I loved hearing about your dad!

Mary, I have a copy of Little Sam. I’m working on Honor America now. If possible, could you tell me what colors were used in the border half square triangles? I’m thinking shirting prints, navy, and reds. Frost advisory here tonight. Then it looks like it is going to warm up.

Diane – please give me the number of that pattern – I can’t think which one it is and I’ll look for you.

Would you like me to make a copy of Little Sam and send it to you? Honor America was given as a freebie at the Rosemont quilt show in 2013 if a purchase was made. There is no number. Don’t worry if you can’t find it; I’ll come up with something. Would you like a copy of it?

Diane – YES! Can I reimburse you? My memory doesn’t go back to 2013! Haha!
