I hope the blog is fixed now – and the only way I can tell is if I try to post so here we go.
Did you celebrate Fathers Day? The baptism this morning was the dad’s first Fathers Day – so appropriate.
Someone asked about my wounded leg – it’s not healing very fast and is still quite painful if I bump it – possibly a bone bruise? Not much skin there so I guess it’s possible.
Very chilly here – Rick wants the furnace on! And it’s just 2 weeks from Fourth of July! What’s with our weather? We don’t get any rain and most of the US is flooding. Climate change is real, Folks.
Marsha is blown away by the cards she has received – 128 to date. So wonderful for her and I can’t thank you enough.

The Fever game. Hmmmm…..I don’t even know what to say. I was so disgusted I quit watching. After halftime in every game they have a bad third quarter which continues into the fourth quarter – what happens in the locker room that shakes their composure so completely that they simply can’t play? What does the coach say to them? I am a disappointed Fever fan. Anyone else?
I made this small wall quilt which is a part of our pattern All American cats. I’m including this section of the pattern here as a gift to all of you! Maybe for putting up with all the blog issues this week – ugh. It’s all easy piecing and won’t take long at all. I turned it instead of binding the edge – you know how much I hate to bind.

Here’s the pattern! I hope many of you make it to hang up before the 4th and beyond. Excuse my scribbles.

Enlarge it and print it out with my compliments! And be sure to send me a picture. I made my cat orange for Mortie – I can’t wait to see your cats!
Here’s hoping for a calm easy week.

Mary, I just love your card ministry. So simple yet so meaningful.
I was concerned something was wrong at the farm. I appreciate the ordeal you went thru to fix the blog.
Thanks for the patriotic cat pattern—love it!
Joy, I am so sorry about your cat. 😢
As for Father’s Day, it rained all day. My hubby chose going out for a bbq lunch followed by a comfy afternoon nap.
Thanks for the blog, Mary 🥰
Glad your blog is fixed as so many others are. The cat quilt is cute and thank you for giving the pattern to us all. We’ve had some high temperatures the last week. Today I washed the screens and I was done it was still 90 F at 5pm today. That is hot for here. Luckily our house seems to keep cool. We do have air conditioning when we need it but so far so good without it.
I’m glad the blog is back in order. The patriotic kitty pattern is a treat. My favorite cat Sonny looked just like Three. He was rescued from the streets of Baltimore. He wasn’t feral so probably just abandoned when someone moved & left him. It rained all day today & my garden sure needed it.
Thanks for sharing the patriotic cat block. A friend who loves cats popped into my mind as the perfect recipient once I have it done. I, too, wouldn’t mind a clearer copy of the pattern. You are awesome, Mary.
Hot one ahead for Southwest Arizona this week. I’m getting my T-shirt ready to wear on the 26th commemorating the hottest day on record in Phoenix. Thankfully, it’s not going to be that hot this time.
Prayers for healing on your leg.
Glad you are up and running again. I’m another who misses reading the blog every day and worrying what is wrong. I agree with you on the Fever. I thought they had it worked out when Caitlin became a little more chill and wasn’t fouling so much in the first half. It you do wonder about why they fade so much. The opposing teams seem to adjust in the second half but the Fever less so. Does seem like a coaching issue. Love the pattern. Mine will be a gray cat for my Russian blue Sophie. I’m sure she will appreciate it. Ha! We are waiting for rain here in MD as well. All the storms seem to fade out before getting here. And everything is blooming close to a month early. All of my daylilies have bloomed (the few the deer didn’t eat). Nothing will be I. Bloom by July.

Karen – I belong to a Fever group on Facebook and there’s so much posted about that game! I don’t think the coach likes Caitlyn very much – not a good vibe. Did you see the Liberty game last when Nneka, LA Sparks,, hit the buzzer beater shot to win by one point? Fabulous!
There have been a lot of buzzer beaters this year. I watch the Mystics because they are on locally here and they’ve had several. Makes for fun watching. But like you I have quit watching several of the Fever games because it’s just painful! If she doesn’t like Caitlin you sort of wonder why SW came back to coach. Must have been a hefty contract.
Glad you got the electronic problem fixed! Thank you for the pattern. I’ll have to try and get this sewn! Went to a swine show to watch grandson show on Saturday – wind came up and it started raining – hubby went out to the car to get the car blanket for me to wrap up in – it’s an open air barn that is usually so hot during the show. Not this year! Hope your leg gets to healing!
Christie B – I will post the pattern again tonight – one reader found it very hard to read
This blog post has come in loud and clear. lol I had not realized you were having trouble until I read the comments. I have been having my own computer troubles recently and didn’t realize you were having issues too. Isn’t technology wonderful??? When it works??? Thanks for the adorable cat pattern. I am going to copy it and hope I have time to make it. Your leg is a worry, Mary. I said before and will say again….wear a compression sock over it every day. I always took mine off at night but wore it all day. It feels good on, helps to protect it, and to heal it. Takes a long time, though.
Tell Rick that I did turn up the heat while watching TV…two nights in a row.
Sue – you did not turn up the heat!!! I want the windows open and he wants the furnace on. I tho k the blog is ok now. I actually took the bandage off and did put a sock on – I think the bandage kept it draining
Maybe the bandage And the sock. I am hoping it gets better so you don’t have to see a doctor.
Sue – I took it all off today and it’s great!! That covering just kept the wound wet and draining, I think.
I was thrilled to see how many cards Marsha received. What a wonderful group of readers you have to send her a greeting!
Thank you for the cat quilt pattern. I have another Country Threads pattern in the works that I was hoping to finish by the 4th. It’s probably not going to happen. But, I will get it done sooner or later as I love how it’s turning out.
Hope your leg feels better.
Hi Mary-
Thanks for posting the sweet cat with flag pattern. It seems once again the blog about nothing is fixed. I knew right away that was Mortie you put on yours. I must get to the sewing room today and try to get that little quilt started!
You are right about the weather in the good old US of A. It is so different than it has acted in years past. You just never know what is coming next.
I have to tell you – the day or two after you posted about Yellow Brick Road I went to one of our local thrift stores and over to the “fabric and crafts section”. What pattern was sitting there for $1? You guessed it. Of course I bought it and now that’s on my list as well. Thanks again for all the inspiration provided on the blog. Love it!
Wendy – what a bargain! Mine cost $18 new with postage! And I’ll just bet I’ll find my old one, too. It is a great pattern to always fall back on.
Thank you for the cat pattern. It made me laugh. Our last cat, Harvey the Horrible, was a ginger striped cat. What a piece of work he was.
Suzanne – I think orange/ginger cats are a breed of their own – Mortie is always up to something! Not always good either.
Mary, on my last quilt I just did a blanket stitch on my sewing machine for the binding. I love it. So easy.
Linda – great idea! I’ll try that next.
Love the patriotic cat pattern! Thank you!
What a great response of cards!! Wonderful!
The blog came through great – glad the issues seem to be resolved. Now to get your leg healed up!!
Love the cat and flag pattern – thank you! I did print it off and hope to make it soon. My cat (Jules) is orange so I may make it very much like yours.
Hope you get some rain soon – we had some overnight here in central OH. It’s supposed to be dry for the next few days, so it should be good for mowing and weeding then. I have to get a new tire for my mower – I somehow put a gash in the sidewall and have no idea how that happened! While I’m out, I’ll keep my eyes open – a black bear was spotted yesterday morning about a mile from my house…
Gail – a black bear??? Holy Cow! Is that unusual? Maybe not.
It seems like the weather patterns settle in for 2-3 weeks now. Those 2-week dry spells are hard on plants. Then again, the 2-week rainy damp spells are prime conditions for plant diseases it seems. Father’s Day was low-key here, DS & GD stopped by for a bit, steak on the grill was postponed to today due to rain.
Thank you for the pattern!
Whoopee! Wow! Marsha received an abundance! So nice!
Mary, we must be in the same streak of dry pattern! We didn’t get anything to measure but the concrete was wet a few times. Maybe .05 . Sure would like a soaker. The yucca is about to lose its flowers. It’s been really pretty.
Father’s Day was spent on Saturday. Our daughter and husband have a camper site on the Lazy H in Akron, Iowa. It is a new campground with all concrete paths and sites and green green grass and a small lake. It was a former LG Everist sand pit and then sold to Higman (sp) and he developed the camp site. They also have some nice cabins to rent. And a club house for the permanent site residents and their guests. It was a beautiful day on Saturday. We got there at 10:30. The other parents came also and Sandy and Tom’s three children so it was great fun! We had brisket with sautéed peppers and onions on toasted buns with deviled eggs, jello salad, watermelon, almond bars and then Allison (granddaughter) made a peach cobbler with cool whip for a snack. The other mother brought the deviled eggs and jello salad and we brought watermelon and the almond bars. Are you hungry yet? We got home at 5 so it was a great relaxing day with lots of visiting!
On Sunday, Jay went to church and I stayed in my chair 😝. We can listen to the sermon so that works good.
Today I have to wash the sheets and I have been scrubbing with Hibiclens for 3 days and then they want us to have clean sheets too! I’m suppose to pack for tomorrow. I’m planning to wear home what I wear there plus clean undies, ha.
Mary did you see how many people commented on your test run? Wow! It’ll take me several cups of coffee to read all the comments! Good deal….that’ll keep me busy while I’m recuperating!
If anyone has any suggestions for me please let me know! I’d appreciate it. 💕
Joy – WHAT A FEAST! Yes, I’m hungry just thinking about it. And everybody there – fun! I remember all the cleaning and also the sheets. My animals were a worry to my dr but I didn’t care – I knew they’d not be an issue. Do you want suggestions for entertainment while you heal? My first thought is Netflix! I could watch for hours. Will Jay cook for you? Otherwise some frozen meals and plenty of snacks. You won’t be real hungry for a day or two. Drink lots of water and other liquids. I’m assuming basic instructions wouldn’t be much different than knee replacement. Oh, you’ll be so glad to get rid of the pain!!!
Mary, the blog is healthy and vibrant here today!
It’s been cool here and lots of rain off and on. The corn fields are thriving!
I’s been sewing room time for me at home. Getting lots done. Have a quilt on the long arm more than half complete. Book club meeting today. I hope I can finish today that quilt.
Bacterium (sp) for that injury. A friend used that on a dog bite on her leg and said it’s excellent.
So happy that the blog issues seem to be resolved. Love the Patriotic cat pattern. Thank you!
Thank you for the cat quilt pattern. I will save it to make someday. This is going to be a hard day. My orange cat has terminal metastatic cancer (lymphoma). He is suffering, and will be euthanized at home this afternoon. He’s only 8 years old, poor baby.
Thinking of you today, Dot, on this very difficult day. May your baby run free from all pain. Pat in Iowa City
Dot – oh, Dot, I’m so sorry!!! He’s so young to be so sick but I want to commend you for making the right decision for him! Not avoiding it because it’s hard for YOU. And doing it at home is always best instead of traumatizing him in a carrier going to the vet office. You can make the All American Cat quilt in his memory. I’m glad he will no longer be miserable. Thank you on hia behalf.
Awe, Dot I’m so sorry. It is so hard to lose a special pet. I’ll be thinking of you.
Dot, my heart goes out to you. Very sad but it’s the kindest thing you can do for the cat. Glad you made the decision to have it done at home. We lost a orange cat to lymphoma a few years back. Janice Traverse City area.
Dot — I am so very sorry. My thoughts and prayers are with you. Hardest part of owning a pet….
I’m sorry, Dot! Love and prayers for comfort are sent your way.
Thank you for the darling pattern! It’s on my list for making as a gift.
We went to our nephews wedding in Ida Grove this weekend. Nice reception and saw some very old friends we’d not send for more than 30 years. Always nice to see family.
Ran into rain on the way home and rained most of the day. Stayed in and worked on my applique quilt.
Grandkids are back today and nice slow week for us all . Lots of play and craft time. Oh the lazy days of summer as a child!
I agree with Rick. It was chilly and rainy yesterday in southern Iowa. I thought about turning the furnace on last night to get the chill off but wrapped in a blanket for the evening. I wish I wore my winter pajamas to bed and ended up adding another quilt.
The American cat quilt is so cute! Thank you!
Like everyone else, I’ve missed your blog when you weren’t able to post. So happy it seems to be fixed. Thanks for the little cat pattern. It will be a welcomed addition to my patriotic collection. We got another inch of rain last night which makes about 2 1/2 inches this week. Have a good week to all!
Hi Mary, Glad this is fixed. I missed hearing from you
At the beach in SE SC this week and last with lots of rain in the forecast. In NW South Carolina where we live now there a drought.
Grandkids were here last week. Part of their routine is a visit to Island Quilters to each pick a project that we will do together when I get back. This week they’re attending 4,H quilt camp. (The twin boys are 9 and their little brother is 4)
Papa recently bought them a basic sewing machine at a yard sale to keep at their house.
Christina – their very own sewing machine? Oh, how fun! Your rain is like ours – raining north of us and south of us but we get nothing.
Thankyou for the pattern! I love the blog. Eunice and Canoli are doing great! Rosie is in a group class At Petco mostly for socialization. She’s much better with people than she used to be.
You are correct about the weather. It’s much much much hotter here than it was in the past! Our winters used to be cooler and like your spring.
Thank God for air conditioning!
Thankyou
Bea knight in boca raton Florida
Bea – lovely to hear about Eunice and Canoli – you know how much I love their names. Socialization is good for dogs and Casey will learn. I’m still waiting for summer – 70-75 is not summer, it’s spring.
Love the patriotic cat hanging and thrilled your back up to speed with the site. Enjoyed a quiet Dathers day and my tow sons and husband will be playing golf together today. Great for them and great for me since I am teaching my daughter-in-law to quilt. Everyone is guaranteed a good day.
I hope your leg feels better soon.
Looks like you’re fixed from my vantage point. The blog post came through perfectly and I’m happy you’re back! Cute wall hanging….thank you!
Everything coming through here also . Thank you for the pattern , think I’ll do my cat black in memory of our stubby , he will have a tail in the quilt , he came to us with only a little stub of tail . I’m also glad your up and running I too look forward to your post .
I’m so happy the blog is working again. Thanks for the great pattern. I’ve printed it out and will be digging through the stash to find fabrics. Thanks for posting this blog for us to read.
Got it
Thanks for the pattern!
Which cat to choose……
So happy it’s working! Thanks for all you do to keep it going for all of us. I know it’s frustrating. I look forward to your post every day. Thanks again.
I think it’s fixed!!! I spent the day thinking about my dad — he passed quite some time ago. He was a good dad and a good man. What a very special Father’s Day for that new dad! I hear you about the weather. It is horribly hot here, heat index in the 100’s. Way too early for that. These severe storms across the country are certainly disconcerting. I hope everyone stays safe. LOVE seeing all the cards Marsha has received! Way to go everyone!!!! ❤️ Thank you for such a cute little quilt/block!!! I’m going to print it out and dig through the scraps. A good distraction from my cross stitch. I’ve been focused on little 4th of July projects. I’ll have to send a picture when I get finished.
May everyone have a good start to a new week!
It is fixed on my end! Thank you for the cute cat pattern, I printed it off. We had a quiet Father’s Day. We texted back and forth with our son and daughter in law, as they live on the other side of the world. Watched the US OPEN, what a stressful championship! It was 105 today, going up to 109 this week. Always triple digits in the Las Vegas Valley.
Sally – I doubt we’ll need our AC this summer if things continue like this and I live for summer!!
Happy father’s day! This post came through just fine.
It has been chilly and tell Rick I have had my furnace on a couple of times to take chill off and cut the humidity.
Hope the leg gets better soon. I’d have to see the post again I had a suggestion when I saw it but you sounded pretty set on how you were going to care for it!
It will be warner tomorrow, not much I hope. Im not a hot weather fan. HUGS N LOVE
Beryl – since the wound is so close to the bone and skin is very thin and “old”, I’m not sure what else I could do – but please tell me what you think. I’m open for suggestions – I just think it will take a long time to heal.
Thanks, Mary! I’ll make my cat black, in loving memory of my beautiful girl Blossom.
Welcome back. Our oldest spotted a crawdad by the trash bin outside and sent greetings for “Happy Crawdad Day”. Enjoying the beautiful June weather.
Works great for me. Thank you so much for the patriotic kitty.

Oh, what a wonderful pattern, thank you for sharing with all of us. Your church service sounds perfect for Father’s Day, a new father sees his child baptized. We spent Father’s Day with our son, checking out boat landings and out to dinner. Our son travels over 50% of the time so it was nice to have this day with him. Its been cool here in Wisc which suits us just fine, so nice to not have humid days.
We had a cool, very wet day here in the Quad Cities area. It made me think about the 4th of July when my husband’s family were all home to celebrate and no one but us brought jackets! The rest of the grandkids spent the day in Grandma’s sweatshirts which looked more like long nightshirts as they were all pretty young. We had jackets because we were living in Virginia at the time and for a 2 week stay, I planned for every eventuality. It became one of the 4th of July memories along with Squishy the Toad and the year 3 grandaughters braided their long hair together so they could be Siamese Triplets.
Father’s Day was very quiet here; both our fathers have passed away and we celebrated Hubby’s birthday and Father’s Day Friday night. I still owe him a lemon meringue pie. Or maybe I will mix it up this year and do chocolate meringue.
DebMac – I’m trying to picture three little girls that braided their hair together!!!!
If I can, I will send you a photo! They didn’t plan very well, instead of tallest to shortest, they put the tallest in the middle and the other girls on the ends. The ends were not the same size so our daughter in the middle had to scrunch over and to one side to accommodate the difference. Still giggle when I think of it.
I had to laugh reading about your chilly 4th of July – somewhere in the past, probably 35 years ago – we (hubs, me and the 3 young boys) went to the Brainard area for a vacation with my in-laws. It had been HOT in where we lived in NE IA and of course we were going to live in cabins for a week so ALL the food needed to be packed – right down to salt and pepper. I was packing clothes for everyone – so shorts, t-shirts, sandals, and swim trunks. The morning as we were leaving, I thought – maybe I should pack some jeans…so I ran to their rooms (and ours) and grabbed one pair of jeans for each of us. Luckily. It was SO COLD that 4th of July week…and of course they were the old timey cabins – no heat, doors that don’t quite close and windows that leaked on all sides. Those jeans got plenty of wear – every day all day and I had suitcases of clean shorts and sandals when we got home. And I think winter coats should have been packed too because sweatshirts weren’t enough! We should have gone shopping but we could barely afford our cabin, but we survived and still laugh about the frozen summer vacation.
Well, Mary, if you get this everything will be good! We traveled from South Carolina yesterday (all day in the car) to Wisconsin to spend Father’s Day with our kids and grandkids. It was a great day as my hubbie got to play golf with our son-in-law and grandson and I got to spend time with our daughter, granddaughter, and later the entire family got together for family dinner…six of the seven grandkids and five of the six kids and spouses. Our daughter-in-law was busy working at the hospital but we were able to catch up with her later. We’ll be in Wisconsin about 10 days, so no quilting or sewing will occur, but I am reupholstering some dining room chairs and doing some mending while I’m here. Grandma’s work is never done…and yes, it is chilly in Wisconsin, but we left mid 90s behind in South Carolina, so no complaints from me!
Debbie – that’s a long drive for one day, isn’t it? But seeing all the kids and grandkids, spouses and all must have been worth it. Glad you’re enjoying the cool weather – I am not.
Oh, so happy it is fixed! I hope it is. You can’t imagine how much I miss it when I can’t read your blog every day. I love the pattern. What a good honor for Mortie! My eyesight is pretty bad, so I don’t think I can do this one, but I really love it. I hope your leg is healed very soon.
