Moe is here for the weekend and Hazel was tickled to see her old pal! Keeper is fine with Moe but he has more fun with Hankster who likes to “rassle”.

Mortie explored outside this afternoon.

Morti is quite an extraordinary kitten. I love how she settled into the house in about ten minutes, and now she is quite adventurous exploring outdoors.
Take Care 🥰
I live near the former Chanute Air Force Base in Rantoul, IL. There were 900 ash trees on the base that had to be cut down. I have a friend who still has three big ones, but there are dead spots in each one. So sad to see them go.
Mary, My American Harvest pattern arrived today. Thank you. I hope to make it this winter for next year. I have the same frame you have around the Crow quilt. Mine was around an old mirror. I am in love with Mortie. She is adorable😻😻. Is the Trick or Treat quilt with the cat by Tina W. a Country Threads pattern? It is cute. Alice, we go on retreats to Amish country, too. They are so much fun. Our Quilt Guild Quilt Show was a success.
Diane – yes, Trick or Treat is a Country Threads pattern
Happy weekend everyone. We just spent the last three days taking down 7 ash trees. We have two trees left. They will wait until spring. Since last fall we have taken down 18 ash trees. If the tree rings are correct we took down trees that were from 70 to 90 years old. They were big but they don’t even compare to one of those we will do in the spring. It’s very sad. Des, thanks for letting us know about the oak trees having issues at some point we will have to replant a few
I LOVED the joke at the end! Ha!
It was nice to see a pic of my girl Hazel today. That little Morty has turned into a real sweetheart. She has the perfect pose! All the quilts are beautiful & they show that your blog readers are a talented bunch. It makes me sad to read about everyone losing their ash trees. All of the ashes here in my part of Pa lost their battle against the ash borer many years ago. Now my neighbors son who is a tree trimmer said that there is a disease killing oak trees. Our home is surrounded by trees and the ridge that we see out back really nurture my soul. Is there anything more beautiful than nature?
Des – my thick grove is full of ash trees and it hurts me to my soul to see them dying.
Love all the quilts. Especially love seeing Mortie…..so very cute 🥰 I wish she were mine 🥰
I love all the patterns offered in this email! I have to concentrate on what I have on hand because my collection of “to do” patterns is crazy ridiculous! BUT if I ever see you offer the Potting Shed (I think that is the name of the pattern), I am jumping in as fast as I can get a check in the mail. I love house quilts. I made your Be Still quilt and it is one of my favorites.
Sheryl – Potting Shed is in a huge book by Martingale, I think, and im not sure I even have it anymore. It was a compilation of quilts by many Martingale designers
I just returned from a 5 day quilting retreat in Holmes County, OH. We’ve been doing this retreat for 20+ yrs at the same hotel. They provide us with one of the big conference rooms + a kitchen. The hotel only provides breakfast, so we can bring our own food or order out. A group project is making quilt tops for the neonatal unit at Children’s Hosp. We managed to make over 20, plus our own projects. We also managed to help keep several quilt shops in business, too! It was a fun week & we had a couple of new gals join us! Such a fun week! Boots stayed with Ron & I know he thought his momma had abandoned him! He really is a Velcro dog! Happy to be home & happy you have Richard to fix the blog, Mary! The fall colors are certainly pretty, our drive was so wonderful!
Happy morning your blog is right back to my inbox of emails.
Rita the ash trees around here are dying and falling over in orchards leaving a mess. We just had one taken down at our camp as it was next to a maple tree that did cause some damage during last wind storm.
I’m glad Hazel gets her turn with a playmate. Mortie is growing and so darn cute! Love all the quilt pictures. They are wonderful.
Spent yesterday working at my sisters and BIL and took down 3 trees. We then had brats coked over the fire. Will go back today to work on a few more. Most are ash trees that have died. What a mess when they drop. So many sticks to pick up. Nice fall days but I know our days are limited.
Love all the quilts today and Mortie is such a beautiful cat. Hazel looks like she saying “what’s next”?
Beautiful quilts tonight. I just love seeing photos of Mortie. She is such a pretty cat.
Love the pics of Mort. i have a tip to add to your list. A cat or dog sleeping on your lap. Works for me
all the time.
Hi Mary, arrived in my inbox, thanks
