MORE MARCH MADNESS! My favorite time of the year except that Iowa lost and that was a disappointment but onward we go!

Still working on Bitcoin but getting so sick of it – I need to change my project tomorrow for sure.

Stopped at one of my favorite thrift stores on Friday – here’s what I got:

This picture – great color – $5.00

Remember our discussion about funeral and flower baskets? This one has a wooden bottom making it vintage and it was $.50!!!!

I can see it was originally 40’s green but red is ok with me.

This plant fit in it perfectly.
Mortie on my lap this morning.

I’m looking forward to our Palm Sunday service!

Sweet thrift store finds. Approved by Mortie, too.
Haven’t see all of March Madness but I did watch Iowa and rooted for them. Then Duke & Sienna (not familiar with Sienna). I always root for the underdog. I thought for sure they would overtake Duke. Duke is such a powerhouse- they rarely miss shots and are dominate under the basket with those super-tall, aggressive players who block the basket and grab the rebounds. Uconn winning was a shock! I’m so happy for them, especially 19 year old freshman, Braylon Mullins. I just love what Coach Dan Hurley said that he told Braylon who is from Indiana, that they would return to Indiana for March Madness- who knew that Braylon Mullins would be the one to sink that 3 pointer to take them to the final four in Indiannappolis, Indiana!

Mary, you find the best stuff when you go thriftng. I love the picture and would’ve bought it also! Glad the magic Prednisone is helping your pain. Mortie sure is a cutie! Have a good day all!

I love seeing what you find at the thrift stores. Perfect colors in the picture you found. It also reminded me of your bullseye quilt. Oh dear! I still need to put those blocks together.

Even if you don’t buy anything at a thrift shop, you’re entertained by all the odd things you see. I keep saying to myself, “Why would anyone buy THAT in the first place?” Just recently, I’d thought that about an ugly floor lamp, and then a young couple came in the door, looked around, and headed straight for the lamp with glad cries, “It’s still here! Nobody bought it!’ It was only ugly to me!

I like your new basket, and the new picture. I hope you’re continuing to feel better with the new medication, Mary.

Your $5 thrift store picture is very cool, and you had the perfect wall space for it. I did not know about funeral baskets, until you recently discussed them. Your latest purchase is lovely.
Pictures of Morty are always delightful—I love her!

I also like the picture you found and it too reminds me of the quilt. I agree that all photographs of any of your beloved pets and friends pets make me so happy! I would be so happy to have a beloved Mortie to cuddle with me in a minute but my health makes me an unreliable care giver, I am sorry to say. I am only able to take care of the most basics for me anymore. I have even given up on my few plants I had left except for one poor African Violet! I look forward to your blog every day. It is the first thing I read! Thank you so much.

I enjoy seeing your thrift finds. The picture you just purchased reminds me of your Bull’s Eye quilts. I love the colors. Any picture of Mortie always makes my day, as well as Hazel and Keeper. Who am I kiddingf…I love seeing all of your pets and their buddies who come for play dates. Your little farm is a welcoming place.

Myrna – I’ll add that I used to love Vision One in Clear Lake but it’s as expensive as a retail store and I never find anything there anymore. I go to the ones in Mason City, too, but rarely because I never find anything – why waste my time? I could certainly afford to buy new things but I’m looking for vintage generally and yes, the best part is the hunt!!

Mary I love seeing your thrift store finds. I also enjoy thrifting – it is like a scavenger hunt. March Madness reigns at our house too. Living as we do in Champaign, IL we are long-time Fighting Illini fans who had season tickets for decades. We even got engaged on national television when my husband proposed to me at a basketball game! So we are thrilled that our team is going to the Final Four for the first time in 21 years! We will have a fun afternoon taking our grandchildren, ages 10 and 6, to a Chinese buffet for lunch. They love choosing whatever they want to eat and the soft-serve ice cream at the end. Then we’ll make chocolate chip cookies – a longtime tradition.

Bonnie – you are a celebrity!!! I’m not sure who is able to beat Illinois at this point – I have relatives in Peoria who watch closely, too. Yes, you’re right – thrifting is a scavenger hunt and I love it. I am no longer very interested in antique malls. I wish I were going with you to the buffet

    2. Kathryn

Another Illini fan here! We live just west of Champaign and last night was a game full of emotion and well played by both teams. It’s a thrill to see this team make it this far . The final games will be stressful. Mary thank you for all you do! Have a blessed upcoming week.

Love your new picture! And a good price too.
Did the trusty golf cart have another repair recently? I thought I read a cable cord in the comments? Or was I dreaming. You are lucky to have a competent repair shop who treats your golf cart with the same respect you give it!
Off to Palm Sunday services here too. Think I’ll wear a pink sweater as we need the bright colors.

Kathy – yes, the throttle cable broke – the golf cart company is a big one – they supply golf carts to large events all across the country. They know my cart well – pretty soon everything will be replaced – shouldn’t it be like new then? Everything ok at your house?

That basket is just perfect for your plant and, the price was perfect too. I always enjoy seeing what you find at the thrift store.
We still have plenty of snow left over from our blizzard a couple weeks ago. Cold again this morning but hopefully Spring weather is coming soon.
    Have a blessed Palm Sunday.
