THE NG TUBE IS GONE!! I’m a new person and now I know I can handle the rest of whatever is coming for me. Path report still not back but hopefully tomorrow. I asked to sit at a table tonight so I could write a complete blog post but no table available, I guess. Hard to write this laying in bed with my head propped up.
My room does have a window but……

The empty room next to me is 4 times this size – honest – and I asked if rooms had different prices because mine is surely at the lower end.
I’ve had a couple really bad – truly awful – young nurses. I’ve made notes on so many things that I will write in length about. These girls literally tried to give me things I knew I wasn’t allowed to have – like a full glass of water and applesauce. AND I ate the applesauce even though it was awful – she put my pills in it! GAG ME!!
I’ve been getting potassium in an IV all day –

And I had three other IVs which are now out. No, I haven’t even ventured a guess on a discharge date and I feel like it would be bad luck to ask.
Rick says there’s a huge pile of cards at home for me – I wish they were here right now but I’ll look forward to reading them. Sam went to see Rick today and I’m sure he gave her some eggs. 12+ eggs a day is a lot of eggs to use but when I get home I’m going to bake them in muffin tins and freeze for the dogs – however many I have to use up. Oh, there are so many things I want to do when I get home.
The days prior to Thanksgiving, the holiday centered around eating, is not a good time to be parked in front of a tv when you’re not allowed to eat. I’ve never see so much beautiful food!!
If you read Betty’s account of the Custer Buffalo Roundup, I’m sure you’ll love it as much as I did. One year Becky and I went to the Black Hills for the weekend. After looking at the cabins available I think we should plan another short trip – I love the Black Hills and Sylvan Lake. One year Connie and I taught at a retreat out there. Hey, Betty – if Becky and I come out there we’ll look you up!
I have my notebook along and I’m making a master list of things to take along to the hospital if you need to go. Right this minute I wrote down my backscratcher!!!
I now think things are looking better and even though I have so much more to say tonight, (remember they didn’t call me Windy for nothing!) I’m going to close and hope you’re all doing well. Talk soon.

Good morning Mary, I’ve been thinking about your room and being an old nurse I’m guessing you had a ton of equipment in your room due to your needs! IV’s, the bed alone is huge, NG equip, chair(s), waste baskets, O2 etc…it doesn’t take long to fill up a hosp. room. I’m sorry your experience has been spotty w nurses. One RN can have many patients and have to depend on CNA’s to do much at the bedside. Sadly they have worn out the old good nurses and now a shortage. How I wish I were there to “watch” all that is going on around you. NG tube is out, fantastic! Your gut needed to rest more before starting it up again. By now I hope you’re tooting as well. You must stay as long as you need to Mary, going home will not be a cake walk. Cover your tummy w a pillow so nothing rubs against it. (Furry friends) You will still be weak after this MAJOR surg and it will take weeks!!! to gain some strength back. Let others do for you, God knows what you have done for so many. I hope your incision is healing nicely. Everything that could have gone SOUTH after surg happened to you dear Mary. Now you’re going in the right direction. When you get home you can do some handwork, embroidery, read, watch some games and doze! Happy Thanksgiving Mary.
Arlene – I already have several redwork projects in a sewing bag ready to go!!! Thinking ahead!!
So glad you are beginning to feel better. Just be sure to take it easy when you get home so that you don’t cause problems for yourself. As for the bad nurses…when I was in the hospital in July one of the RNs that came into my room after I had asked to see a nurse 3 times over 1.5 hours was totally rude. After she left I called back to the desk and asked to see the charge nurse. Reported the problem to him, then the next morning reported all the way up the chain, including to the head of the hospital. Amazing how much more good attention I got! Most of the RNs I had were great but some of the CNAs were a little less so. Hope you get to go home soon, just don’t overdo!
Glad the nose tube is out. Little things really help. I’ve really enjoyed reading all the comments. I am REALLY glad you are still in the hospital. Oh, I know, you want to go home! But with all that incision, tubes, etc, being 2 hours away from home, winter, critters, Rick, you are in the right place for this part of your recovery!!! Even tho you don’t like it. Rome wasn’t built in a day and neither were you. Enjoy every day of it the best you can. Once you get home you will find you aren’t as young as you used to be?? That part will also take much longer than you’d like.
A Volksmarch is held both in June and September every year at Crazy Horse. My cousin came out in 2008 and we climbed the mountain. I was worthless for 3 days. He took an hour nap and left for our aunt’s in Sioux Falls!! We couldn’t do that now. It was worth it.
There is so much to see and do for every age. Yes, Mary, you would have to let me know when you are coming!!!
Mary, be PATIENT!!! Remember that thing you all were saying? I can’t remember it — the mind is the first thing to go………..
Betty
Oh Betty it’s so good to have you back. Your humor is priceless. I love the worthless comment.
Mary, so glad you feel somewhat better. I am looking forward to your list what to take to hospital because I am facing a hysterectomy and expect a one or two day stay in the hospital. I’m sure nothing like what you have endured. Isn’t it so hard to leave your pets? we won’t travel because we can’t leave our cat. She has an illness that affects her eyes. Thankfully my husband adores her too. Also have to have a biopsy before the surgery and am praying it’s not cancer. So many things we have to face as we age. Still praying for you.
So very relieved to hear that progress is being made. I hate that you’re holed up in such a tiny room. If they plan to keep you several more days, perhaps you could request a larger room with a view outside? I know it will be quite difficult to keep you from doing things you perhaps shouldn’t once you get home, so maybe a few more days of rest is a good thing ! ♥️
Glad that you are doing better. Super glad that your NG tube is out. Life is good. As a retired RN, ANP and former (at times) faculty I dislike it when people use the single word “nurse”. If a “nurse” is not introducing themselves properly, ask what type of “nurse” they are. Not all “nurses” have the same education or responsibility. Thank you for listening to one of my pet peeves. May you continue to get well. Keeping you, family and animals in my prayers.
Mary,
I suspect you’ll be happier in your current room as you’d probably end up with a roommate if you were in the larger room!
Glad you sound more like yourself.
My husband is having a hernia repair surgery tomorrow. He helped drag four deer from the woods at deer camp and the hernia popped up and out. He forgets he’s not the young one at camp anymore!
We will have a small Thanksgiving dinner with the two of us and probably our son and future daughter in law visiting.
Today i got the smallest egg and one of the biggest eggs from my chickens. I will send you a photo, Mary, to share.
Have a restful day!🌻
Sunflower – all rooms here are private.
SO tickled to have good news from you! I, like others, have been checking and praying! Good times will be here again! Keep making those lists! You will be up and ready to roll soon. 🙂
Mary, great news! You accomplished so many things before you left, so, the most important thing on your return is your healing. So, take it easy. Let others do. However, I think you have a month’s worth of stories to tell from this experience. Share, get them out of your system as your let your body heal, then bask in all the responses. Yes, have a pillow up front to protect your incision from the four-legged children’s enthusiasm.
From all the comments and insights from nurses on this blog I’ve learned a lot. I would probably be one who would need bigger pills in applesauce, no NG tube experience required. So glad that’s gone for you, Mary.
Thanksgiving is not how you pictured it, but, hopefully you’ll be out of the hospital with your sister in the hotel, thereby taking a giant step on your way home.
Hang in there girl, you’ll get there.
Jan
I’m so thrilled to hear your good news — one step forward is one step forward! Hopefully, those steps will soon be leading you home to all of your loved ones and loved places.
While you are drooling over the gorgeous Thanksgiving and holiday foods, you can think of me and my family eating meatloaf. Ugh, meatloaf! I once threatened to make meatloaf jerky because I dislike it so much LOL Meat loaf is disgusting, I know, but a family tradition. One year, Thanksgiving fell 2 weeks after my 5th c-section, and my mother-in-law was visiting “to help”. For what it’s worth, a newborn and 5 older siblings were far less work than she was LOL She had a major hissy fit because we were brining the turkey then doing an overnight-in-the-oven turkey, and she was sure that we would all die of food poisoning. She refused to eat the turkey and complained loudly and long; the only other food I had on hand was ground beef because baby was early and I hadn’t properly nested and stocked the house with food. To be fair, it probably wouldn’t have mattered though, as all those boys would have eaten everything once my back was turned LOL We made her a little meat loaf and that was that. We always have a small one on the Thanksgiving table in her memory.
God bless you Susan from AL for living through a MIL like yours! I would have sent her packing the first time she complained!! I would have opened a can of soup for her at Thanksgiving. I had a MIL like yours…she picked out my wedding rings, the bed we slept in, got upset when I got preg the 3rd time ( like her lazy worthless son had nothing to do with it!!) I got married at 18, Vietnam days-I was so innocent and stupid! I miscarried from all the stress, he left us and took up with a “girl” 2 yrs younger than me. Best thing that ever happened after I got on my feet. I got rid of my hubby, MIL, went back to school and I became a Registered Nurse with a long and successful career. I so wish that I could be Mary’s nurse! Let me tell you, I’d whip those snippy nurses into shape as well!!!!!
Such wonderful news about the NG tube! it is a positive step to going home. So glad Rick is doing well with the chickens as the weather turns cold. So, the room next door is bigger and empty, but they don’t move you? that is crazy. You are there for lots of days and the nursing staff struggles with doing their job in the small space, but we don’t move you. really? Today we will spruce up the highlights for the kids coming for turkey day and then do some light baking to get ready. I usually do the mashed taters early, the apple brown betty dessert and 2 appetizers. It just leaves the ham, dressing, and green bean casserole for the day of. Easy enough with just 4 of us. Husband will push the vacuum and swifter mop the floors while I will dust and cook. (ps. its taken years to get him to help)
Mary, you’re turning a corner! You sound so much happier in this post and I hear your sense of humor returning. Ha, ha. Good girl.
You have a good positive attitude. My Mom used to say, “Attitude determines Altitude.
You will be home before you know it and enjoying your life around you.
Much love to you!
Yippee 🎉👏 on the NO NG tube! Progress! I hear you about bad nurses – Sometimes I can’t believe these young girls and how they get and keep a job 🤯 praying for you Mary and sending a hug your way! ❤️
Hurray!Getting the NG tube out is such a relief. Hope you can eat some real food again soon! We’re having “Friendsgiving “ at our house—us, my cousin Jim, and four friends from church. My sister Julie was driving down from Michigan, but she just texted me that her hot water heater, dishwasher, and car all went blooey at the same time, and her bedframe broke! So she’s staying home to deal with all that. Our sister Kathie in Ann Arbor is staying home with her blind kitty, Teddy, who had surgery last week and is on a special diet while recovering. So you’re not the only one🥰
Oh my gosh. I have had that happen. Years ago the oven, clothes washer, water heater, and dishwasher all needed replacing within days of one another.
So glad things are looking up for you Mary. Keep those nurses on their toes.
My husband, son and I are going to a local thanksgiving dinner at the community hall. With all proceeds going to our school.
I so admire your talent with growing plants. I have never had much luck with plants, but recently (last spring) got a tiny spider plant from a young friend. Now my spider plant is having babies! Yeah! Is it best to root them in water (unattached from the mother plant)? Can I just leave the babies on indefinitely?
I hope to get a flannel quilt quilted for myself today. This past summer I painted and tried to not put as much stuff out, for a brighter, lighter cleaner look. So my flannel quilt is in lighter colors.
Take care Mary, you are in my prayers.
Good news that you are feeling better. Prayers for continued strength and healing.
Mary,
I am so glad you are on the mend. I hope you know how much all of your readers love and appreciate you. I look so forward to your daily message. Please know that the Good Lord is watching over you and has His loving arms around you. Sending you lots of love, prayers and strength!
Mary, I can tell you’re on the mend, and, hopefully, recovery will get better every day. You’ve gone through a long, tough surgery, so recovery time may be longer than you expected. Just don’t rush getting discharged from the hospital, only to have a set-back and have to be readmitted.
That’s my rant for this morning, take care everyone.
Oh Mary! Your words that I read each morning just made my day. Such good news! Big hugs! ❤️
Such good news to have the tube removed. Onward and upward. Heading out to the grocery store for Thanksgiving preparations. We are just having our 2 kids and their families so I don’t really feel the pressure. My husband will do a major vacuum which I appreciate. He does all of the nooks and crannies . I usually just do the basics so I can get to my sewing, cross stitich,, reading which is so much more fun. I am in the process of cleaning up my sewing room which is much like rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic. II’ll finish it after Thanksgiving. The messy room is really discouraging me from sewing. I have TOO MUCH STUFF!! You are in my thoughts and prayers Marry. You sure have a big group of cheer leaders. You are making progress and that’s a good thing!
Ginger – why not just get yourself some tubs and put some of the stuff away for now so you feel like sewing something again. When you feel back in your sewing groove you can gradually organize knowing you’ve got your sewing mojo back. Start with something small – even a few 9 patch blocks. Sound good?
Mary, Others have mentioned that you are sounding more like yourself. That is what I thought when I read your reply to Ginger. I thought ….Mary is back. Taking care of the rest of us. Pray that your hospital stay is soon over and you are up and back to your normal life.
What about the window in your room?
Glad that the NG tube is out. Now you will be heading toward recovery. Little steps are the winners!
Sending a GIANT HUG for you and your positive attitude . You can do this.
What a relief you are sounding more yourself today Mary. Home will be so welcomed very soon. And the pets….I know how my dogs walked around looking for my husband all those weeks he was hospitalized. What a happy moment for everyone.
I helped a lady this week in our church clothing closet who needed warm pants. She asked for only elastic waist pants as she’d had abdominal surgery over summer for 5 hiatal hernias and could not have anything tight rubbing on her waist. She was hoping it would pass but still feels a Jean buttoned on her waist. So maybe this information will help your recovery this winter by making sure you have enough sweatpants.
Mary, hope they gave you a discount on your room, so small. Do you have enough room to maneuver? Please take it easy and don’t overdo it. Wishing you a speedy recovery .
Deb -no room to maneuver at all! Even my nurses complain about it!
Yippee! No more NG tube. Whew. It is good you are taking notes because hospitals do appreciate and, I hope, use feedback. I think the size of the room depends on your insurance, but that might be wrong. I am sure you ready to go home, but they will know when it is ok to send you. DOOOO listen to everyone else who has mentioned NOT doing too much when you get home. Maybe that is why they are keeping you!!
One Dr. told me that he could tell my husband was a “free spirit” and would do what he wanted so I was to keep him (6’5″, 230 lbs) from doing too much. Ha! He did behave himself, though.
Take care, Mary.
Diane – interesting theory about the room size. I have Medicare and BCBS
I’m going to guess that your room was the one available when you needed one and they don’t want to move you and dirty up another room. Patient views and comfort is not their focus. 🙁 But think how much better you’d feel IF you could get a bigger room.
OR…It might be like the restaurant where they have limited staff and so they keep all the patients in a small area to make it easier. I HATE restaurants that have 1/2 the place open but you have to sit right next to everyone else where it’s noisy and packed in.
Hank and I are looking forward to playing with Keeper again this afternoon.
Be sure to fill out the survey you will get.
Sorry, to mis-spell Minnesota…ugh.
What a relief that tube is gone so happy for you! Hopefully this means you may be discharged very soon! Anxious to hear the stories about your stay!
Glad the tube is out and you are feeling better! You sound so much more comfortable and positive! Glad the feisty Mary is back!
I can’t begin to tell you how wonderful it is to get up on this really cold windy morning and hear from the Mary we have all been praying for! Thank you Lord for the healing you have provided, now watch this special lady so she continues to heal and doesn’t over-do when she is sprung from this small room!! I will continue to pray the path report comes in with only good news and you continue to heal. You must sit and relax and read all the cards when you get home. Happy days are here again!! Blessings to all
Good news about your progress. Slow and steady wins the race.
Here in SW Ohio it rained w/ wind all night. We need it so not complaining.
Just like any profession there are ‘bad eggs’. Nursing is no exception. I question the work ethic and ‘calling’ of some. I have had 2 rounds of back surgeries-2 surgeries in the 5 day hospital stays each time. The third shift nurses are the worst. I am not demanding but needed help to change positions. If I were to have another surgery, my husband will have to stay with me.
Been longarming and working on pile of tablerunners. Today I will start to food prep.
Whoo Hoo!!!! I’m doing a happy dance that the NG tube is out!!!! As a nurse, I REALLY wish I lived closer and I’d be there. Makes me sad to hear that our younger nurses are dropping the ball, but sadly, seems it’s the same with everything. I will also echo other comments — Mary, when you get home you MUST not overdo or you’ll have major set backs!!! I know how bad you want to get going on stuff — been there and done that!!!! About a week after I had surgery, I insisted on going along to the grocery……. needless to say, I thought I was going to pass out in the middle of the store. Not good!!!!! Baby steps my friend!!!! We’re not as young as we once were, even though in our heads we are. Believe it or not, small steps will get you back to yourself sooner. Xx
Wonderful news! Progress is good. Hopefully you get to go home in a few days.
39 this morning here. We haven’t had a good rain in weeks. I’m keeping an eye on the lows predicted as I have peppers and tomatoes to pick before a freeze.
I’m going to be brave and go to grocery for a few things today, then wait until Monday for anything else. I ordered fruitcake mix – all the candied fruit to make fruitcake cookies this week- so good. There was a lady in one of my quilt guilds that would bring them every January (if it was your birth month, you brought the snacks) and I’m so glad I asked for the recipe and she shared it.
We loved our visits to Custer State Park. One of our son’s was stationed at Ellsworth AFB which is east of Rapid City so we made frequent visits to the area.
Custer State Park was visited every trip at least once. Sylvan Lake is beautiful, fished there one trip. Also had to wait for a buffalo to clear the beach and playground to be able to return to our vehicle in the parking lot.
May your recovery and healing continue.
Sound like you again, all feisty and ready to go!!! We went to the Black Hills, et al in 2021 not knowing anything about the Bison roundup weekend! It was beautiful and the Bison were everywhere you drove along. They would walk along the truck with us. Custer State Park is just gorgeous! I would love to go again. It takes so long to heal at our age. But healing will happen. God bless!
So happy to hear you are feeling better. I know you’ll improve each day because our prayers are with you.
I was happy to read your post this morning not only because the ng tube is gone, but because you sound like the old Mary. I’m sending up prayers they let you go home on Wednesday.
Update on baby quilts – I have four cut out and one partially finished. I have enough material for at least four if not five more quilts! I originally told you I had enough material for five quilts.
Caitlin is still squealing at every cow she sees. Our neighbor down the road moved his cows to his farm a couple of weeks ago so now when we get near his place, Caitlin jumps on my lap to look out the window. No cows. She looked at me with the saddest eyes. So guess what? We drove to the farm so that Caitlin could see “her cows.” She started these high pitched squeals and making a trilling sound in her throat – and her tail was wagging a hundred miles an hour. Sigh. What we won’t do for our furry companions.
I hope Becky or Rick takes a phone video of when you get home. Hazel and Keeper will turn themselves inside out with joy when they see you. So will the cats!
Better days are on your way! Happy to hear you’re improving. 🙏🙏
Progress sometimes comes in small increments and other times in leaps and bounds. Here’s hoping you soon have some leaps and bounds. Are you able to walk on your own now that the NG tube is out? Or do the nurses still need to walk with you? Once you can walk on your own, that will be another step of progress.
Talking about Thanksgiving food — we are doing very atypical meals this year. No turkey or ham for us. I am trying salmon, grilled beef, baked potatoes, roasted carrots, a frozen salad, and cookies for dessert. This way I can control how much I cook and how many leftovers we have. We don’t need tons of leftovers. One meal will be a hot pot dish of meat, veggies, noodles, and broth. My husband bought the hotpot in Japan when he was there in September. He is the “cook” of meals in that. So, even though I still prep the broth, veggies, etc., he does the cooking. Yay!
Take care, Mary, and my best wishes for continued progress. Happy Thanksgiving prep to everyone involved with that.
Glad to hear you are beginning to feel better. I’m sure you are anxious to get back to your home and all you love there!!
Glad to hear things have improved for you a bit Mary, and you are writing more like your usual self! Onwards and upwards! Hopefully you will get some positive news soon and every day endured is a day closer to going home! And good for you for keeping track of all the things that are going wrong with nurses etc. It is so important that hospitals get called out on that kind of stuff. Hang in there!
Hi Mary, glad things are improving, don’t over do it when you get home! You don’t want to end up back in hospital!
Went and saw Stella’s ballet show tonight, she loves being on stage! She didn’t get it from me, too reserved and clumsy. It looks like they put you in the storage room at the hospital! Take care everyone, best wishes from Sandy
Sandy – oh, that cute Stella! Likes to dance, huh? Yes, it feels like the storage closet and the empty room next door is huge!
Such great news today that the ng tube is out. Thank you, Lord for answered prayers. You sound so much better. Praying now for a soon discharge and speedy healing. Keep up the good work! I hope you only have the good nurses from now on!!!
Yaaay! No more ng tube! Thank you, Lord, for answered prayer. And you sound much encouraged, Mary. Your encouragement encourages me.
I watched the bison round up last night, too. So interesting. Wouldn’t it be fun to ride in the round up! –Well, maybe it would be fun if I were 50 years younger, for sure. hee-hee.
I thought of you as I tidied up my plants prior to bringing them in. I only have five, but a raccoon, or some critter, dumped over the big aloe vera, breaking it into pieces. I’m not good at making new starts, so I’m just keeping the biggest clump. I hope it makes some new growth soon because it is now a rather weird shape.
We have already shared Thanksgiving with 2 lovely groups, so hubs and I will have a very low-key dinner of thankfulness, just the 2 of us, on the big day, low-key being the operative word here. At my age, it is an accomplishment if I can get something edible on the table on any given day. (smile)
It would make me really thankful to read that you were discharged by Thanksgiving Day. Dare I hope that might happen? All things in its time. Not too soon and not too late. Right? Right!
His peace and joy to you each day.
Lindah – aloes are quite sturdy and yours will probably recover just fine. My biggest bandits are squirrels who want to eat my jade plants.
Just an added note that I think the pills given to you in applesauce may be a common practice. When my brother had lung cancer and could not swallow pills with water, the nurses gave them to him in applesauce. It helped the pills slide down his throat more easily, especially when his throat was sore from having a tube down it. This was in Rh. Is., several years ago. Jeanne in Co.
You are sounding more like the Mary we know and love. That must be because of having gotten rid of the nose tube. Thank the Lord for that.
Hopefully this means you have reached the turning point and are on the way back to complete recovery. Still praying that the reports all come back on a positive note. Is Becky feeling better also? She has been a real trooper by taking care of things at home for you. Is that common practice that everyone who has surgery at Mayo has to stay a couple of nights at the hotel/motel following surgery before they are completely released to return home? And my last question is : will someone be at home to help you during your recovery there? Please be careful and take care not to do too much before you are completely well again. Hugs from Co.
Jeanne – because I live two hours away it would be hard to get back to the hospital fast so I think the hotel routine is quite common. I am thrilled that Becky can come and stay with me!!
This is such a breath of fresh air to read tonight. So glad you are seeing a light at the end of the tunnel. Just remember when you get home to please not over do- no matter how you feel! You can be glad you are indoors these days now as it’s gotten chilly especially with the wind chill. Prayers for you as these days go foreword. We’re still lifting you and Rick up in prayer.
Linda K – Rick has had to transition the chickens to cold temps in the barn but he turned on the heat so they’ll be fine. I don’t want their combs to freeze. I promise I will still let him do the chores when I get home.
It’s great to “hear” you sounding better and stronger! Wonderful that you’re done with the nasty NG tube. Keeping my fingers crossed that your pathology report will be good news, and that you will soon be able to go home. Once you’re there, though, you’re going to have to continue to take it easy, rest, and recover. Hold off on doing all those things on your list until you are truly recovered; you don’t want to end up back in hospital!
I had a fun hiking/walking trip to the Black Hills about 25 years ago, and was pleasantly surprised how beautiful the area is. We got to hike up right under the nose of Crazy Horse, so fun!
Take care and continue to improve.
Sharon – wow, that would be a treat! Our retreat was held in that area.
You sound so much better today! Glad things are improving. Hope the rest of your stay is uneventful and you’ll be home soon.
Mary, your posts sound better. I can tell you’re feeling lots better. It’s been a week, I hope you get to go home soon.
I don’t understand why some people want to be nurses. They really don’t enjoy anything required to help sick patients.
I decided to put a tv in my sewing room today. After trying to find a place to put it and finding a place to put the stuff that’s in that spot and where to rehome more stuff…get my drift, I’m no closer to having a place for a tv in my sewing room.
The road construction here is starting to get on my last nerve. I’m thrilled to see folks having a job, but instead of flaggers, we get cones. The traffic gets backed up incredibly far and the light lets 3 cars through!!
Jo, just a thought about tv placement…do you have a location on the wall that would work? There are wall tv mounts.
Jo – ugh, 3 cars! We lived with construction and lights all summer just west of my place and it was such an aggravation. Jo! Somebody else suggested a wall mount – would that work? Is there anybody who could install that for you? Our tv in the kitchen is hung on a ceiling mount. Yes, I am better but when I do get home, I’ll have to convince myself I’m still a sick person – ugh.
I was so happy to see the email you posted about an hour ago! It sounds like things are better; so glad the nose tube is out. Abt 6P, as we settled into our recliners for a little tv, I checked our email saying to Herb, “Oh no, nothing from Mary.” I am glad I checked again.
I am grateful for the Roundup info from Betty and plan to check it out. We did both Dakotas in 2010, the first year Herb retired. We especially loved The Park, so many bison and donkeys.
Take Care, Mary 🥰
Custer State Park
yeah, mary is herself again. i’m so glad. the potassium drip will help your heart. i’ve been through it a couple times (lack of potassium mimics a heart attack). i had an 8 hour drip on new year’s eve one year so i could go home that day. it seems like a lifeetime ago. no, i didn’t have a heart attack, just no potassium. getting that n/g tube out surely made you feel tons better. can’t wait for the long notes you will be writing when you get home. take lots and lots of notes.
i played with my red/green squares today and cut background fabrics for the half squares. during dinner it dawned on me that i miscounted how many squares i needed. yeah. now i can cut the centers for the stars, and then make the half squares and we’ll start. really want to get a head start before i have to do the next top for my angel challenge due on dec 6th. still trying to figure out how to add three more fabrics (different ones) to the pineapple i have to put together. always misjudge how much i can do at one time. probably for after thanksgiving.
i have made the grocery list for thanksgiving. i hope mr. ed can get everything since he doesn’t think he needs to shop til wedneday. hope there are still potatoes, carrots, etc for the roast. plus i want to get the pillsbury pie crusts so i don’t have to do it. this is going to be challenging enough as it is.
today we had our first ‘tempo’ meal from home chef. parmesan chicken with broccoli and tomatoes. it was okay, i guess. forgot to ask mr. ed what he thought.
wishing a good night’s sleep and feeling even better tomorrow. gentle hugs, patti in florida
It’s so good to hear that N/G tube is gone.. I pray each day is a big improvement, so you can get home as soon as possible. I bet Hazel and Keeper are beside themselves, watching the door for your return. You’ll need a pillow over your tummy, they’ll want to be near to you as possible!
Take good care, Mary!
Well happy day! You’re rid of the feeding tube. Yes!
So glad you’re improving every day.
When I had back surgery in 2016, I had to stay overnight because surgery was delayed until late afternoon, early evening. Every so many hours I was woke up so the nurses could check my vitals. I woke up about 3am to two nurses arguing at the end of my bed about who set my medication intake incorrectly.
Very loudly I told them to correct what was wrong and to take their conversation out of my room! They left but then the charge nurse showed up and thankfully I never saw the other two bimbos, I mean, nurses again!
I went to Target today. My cart locked up in the parking lot. Since I moved to my new home, I’ve had 5 grocery carts in as many stores lock up on me. Some sort of security issue to keep me from stealing a grocery cart. An angel of about 20 years old helped me take my purchases from the cart to my car trunk. I’ll never be able to repay her. I offered her a tip but she said she didn’t need it and that she was just glad to help!
Well, Mary, take care and think only positive thoughts. Hopefully you’ll be heading home soon.
Take care everyone.
It is so wonderful that you are feeling better. I wish you all the best.
WHAT A DIFFERENCE A DAY MAKES!
I am at a loss for words about what all you have been going through and about anything I could say that would help you feel better! It is so good that you have so many followers who have shared with you their hopes and prayers and reasons to help keep you interested and entertained. I enjoy following you so much and look forward to your arrival at home. I can just imagine how all who abide there are wondering what in the world has happened! Here is hoping that things at the hospital go smoothly and quickly enough so that you can be strong and healthy for the return home to all those who love you. With love!
I couldn’t have said this better myself..so this is a ditto from me! Sharon from Ohio

Prayed so hard for you last night before I went to bed. So happy for today’s note and have to say “Praise the Lord!” You sound so spunky, a sure sign you must have turned a corner. Don’t look back…keep going forward. You’ll have tons of tales to tell us once you get home. ~Suzanne
