Several of you commented about my post yesterday that it was relaxed and an easy read. Haha! You say that because my normal days are hectic and pretty busy with lots of things happening. I couldn’t help but chuckle because I remember thinking I didn’t have much to write about. So I’m taking this as a suggestion and a lesson.
I have not heard from Patti in Florida – I fear she could be gone. I have my next birthday girl but I’m hoping I’ll receive a photo before I post.

Hank arrived this afternoon – and like his past visits, he’s wild the first day he’s here. It’s like he’s on speed! Can’t sit down, runs everywhere and is very interested in the cats. His favorite cat was JB who is now gone so today he chose Gracie!
Here’s what I’m working on – a new quilt for Keeper’s chair this fall.

I made a batch of rhubarb jam tonight.

The Prosperity Hens moved to the piano room since you know who arrived this afternoon for a visit.

Goodnight, all!

I especially like that your rhubarb jam can be frozen. We have a rhubarb patch; I need to make some.0
I love the fall chair quilt you are making for Keeper’s chair. He and Greta will enjoy it. 😊
That Hank is so cute; he looks like a fun time just waiting to happen. Thanks, Mary 🥰
Loved all the pictures! That cat quilt is really cute! Hank is a hoot! A puppy yet! Keeper is good for him!
This afternoon it got to 64 and the sun is out about 3/4 of the time and NO wind! Yay! Beautiful!
Take care everyone!
That Keeper is one lucky dog! I love that quilt and the idea of making chair covers that change with every season! I may have to try that with our two wingback chairs! 🙂
Mary, I had to laugh when you said you had a calm post instead of the usually hectic posts. I have learned to be grateful for my hectic days because if all of my days were calm & easy I would be bored out of my mind! I hope Hank is feeling some of those calm vibes. Des
Good idea to move the hens. Just like having a toddler around, you see things from their POV and treasures get moved to safety! LOL Love Keeper’s new quilt.
I too, worry about Patti from Florida. She was such a prolific quilter and was in at least one charity quilt group as well as being a regular commenter on your blog. I kept hoping that one of the others in her quilt group also read your blog and, could let us know about Patti. Last we heard from her, she had some major health problems but, was looking forward to her sister’s visit. I miss her.
Mary, my neighbor mixes rhubarb and raspberries into jam that I get a jar full at Christmas. It is divine.
My little quilt group is going to our spring retreat this morning. So exciting. Loretta is at the kids house,
Keeper is getting a Kaffe Fassett quilt…what a lucky fellow.
Pam was plotting!
I imagine it is cold up there. Here it is in the 40s this morning. II went for a walk at 8 last night and was had I had a light jacket on. I am off to retreat in a few minutes. But I am mad at my phoner. AI took it over (Gemiini) and won’t let me reboot it. I am sick of the internet!.
One good thing, the machine I am using at retreat is not electronic!
My husband is having issues with his phone and Gemini too – so frustrating.
Fran, I used to restart my phone using the hard button on the side, but Gemini seems to have taken that over. I can still restart it, a different way. From the main screen, swipe down, so that you see the screen with short cuts to frequently used tools like airplane mode, Internet, flashlight, etc. At the very bottom right hand of that screen there’s an icon for a power button that you can use to reset. At least that’s how it works on my Pixel phone. Good luck.
Thanks for this, Sharon! I’ve been having the same problem m
Yummm I love rhubarb. I may have to make some jam. It’s been raining here the last few days and so windy. Today is supposed to be the only nice day this week so plan on doing some work in the garden this afternoon. It’s too cold right now. I was pulling a few weeds when the dog was out and about froze my fingers.
Hi Mary, I love your blog about everything and nothing! I don’t know how you do so much every day. Boggles the mind. I’m hoping somehow to get info on “ Rose’s spectacular quilt” posted on 5-14-25. Pattern name, designer etc. . Loved it and would like to try and replicate if possible. Thanx for the blog….you get me started every morning. Sharon
Pamela: I wondered if you would share where you got your pattern for the Retro Cat Quilt.
Am a cat lover and would like to make one for my daughter as she loves cats also.

Marie – she gave me the info so I’ll go back and find it for you.
It is so wonderful that Hank comes to visit and stay a bit with Keeper. I’m sure he loves the farm and all the activity he doesn’t get at home. He sure looks at home laying on the rug!
Keepers new chair quilt looks very masculine just like Keeper. Sammie and Nelson go to the spa today (I’m trying to trick them into thinking of something different than the groomer). I want to keep Nelson trimmed so his tight curls don’t get all tangled like last winter although I like him shaggy. He is super curly right now, we have had steady two days of light rain and he really curls up when damp.
Have a great day with the puppies.
Linda – you’re smart to cut that curly hair but I agree, I prefer the shaggy look, too. Hank is almost more than we can handle/stand until he calms down. Today should be better.
Sweet Hank! He’s so excited to be back at your place he can’t control his excitement. Love the new quilt for Keeper’s chair.
My knee is still aching from yesterday but need to get out this morning and finish planting the popcorn 🍿. First time and looking forward to seeing all the different colors of this Indian corn.
I had leftover squares from making the retro cat quilt and now I don’t remember where I put them. I also was working on a rug so I know I moved them then. I gave my quilter the rest of the black cats and now she’s hunting the fabric and so am I 🤭. Hate looking and not finding!
Mary do you freeze your jam? I used to get plums from the farmer’s market and make plum jam. So good. The only thing I can these days is zucchini relish. It’s good on everything, it’s kind of a sweet relish. I have a beautiful peach tree here in Colorado Springs. So we call our home “Peach Tree Cottage”. Every year it’s a contest to see who gets the most peaches, me or the squirrels. One year I got 32 quarts. The tree is old now, like me, and very tall so the squirrels get most, and produces less and less, like me. Sometimes my husband will say, that old tree is dying , there won’t be any peaches this year. I say, shhh . . she will hear you.
Linda – the recipe I use says freeze or seal in jars but I don’t want to get that whole sterilizing process out so I just freeze. I also have a hot dog relish recipe that I should make this year because I’m out. That definitely needs to be sealed in jars. I love canned peaches but also don’t want to can them – I used to do that, too. One of the first years I lived here the
um trees were loaded and I made plum sunshine. Not only was it delicious it was beautiful in the jars.
Laughed to see that the prosperity hens had been moved to higher ground. The rhubarb jam looks delicious. Hard to get rhubarb around here in Maryland. Sometimes the farmers market has it but not in large quantities. So good with strawberries. I still try to make a batch of sour cherry jam when they are in season. But that’s about all these days. Love the colors for Keeper’s next quilt. You always have such a great eye for color combinations. I’m sure he will enjoy it!

Thank you for the plants. It was a true pleasure meeting you today. When it warms up a bit I am going to have to come back with Owen.
Amy – it wasn’t one of the rare calm days yesterday – it was pretty normal with several things happening at once. Did you get those big plants into your house ok? I’d read up on succulents if I were you since you haven’t had plants before.
I was going to say that the title really did not fit your day at all. I love reading your blog and it was great to experience the not calm day with you. Your blog is real and I appreciate it. I have been researching and I did get everything in my house fine. My cat is a rascal and was trying to eat the pregnant onion leaves 🤪. He has gotten used to them for the most part and is leaving it all alone now. Thank you again!
Amy – those leaves won’t hurt him – my cats chew on them, too – makes the plant look ragged but it’s ok. Haha! Yes, that day was my normal chaotic!
Hi Mary, yum, Would love some rhubarb jam on toast! I had soup and a savoury scone for supper, very spicy (made by an Indian friend),delicious! Take care everyone, best wishes from Sandy
Glad “prosperity” is holding strong with that rascal on the loose.
