New Quilt

Here’s the quilt I gave you a peak at yesterday. I’ve wanted to make these blocks for a couple years now – I’ll add it to my list.

Connie has not added the border yet but here’s a picture of the pattern which shows a dark gray – wide- border.

The designer is Brigette Heitland of Zen Chic and I believe the fabric line is hers, too, called Comma by Moda. Here’s a closeup.

I am inspired to make this quilt, too – aren’t, you? Maybe a controlled scrap theme?

The chicks are all alive and well this morning and Reed will be here after school to take care of them. I am still picking up endless sticks, twigs and branches on the ground from that terrible wind storm a couple weeks ago. Then the raking will begin. It’s our third beautiful day in a row so I’m not complaining. Well, sort of complaining, I guess – a common whine that everyone in North Iowa is experiencing cleaning up after the long winter.

What a fabulous quilt, Connie! There was an exhibition of Brigitte Heitland’s quilt at the Dutch Quilt Market two weeks ago. I thought they were super. This quilt wasn’t there, but there were others using the same fabric line.

Love your chicks, Mary. We don’t have our own chickens, but our neighbour does, so we hear them clucking away at sunrise (their coop and run is just over our garden wall): such a comforting sound!

You n Reed have the new chicks doing well. A real team effort, for certain. We have a friend who brings us eggs…so tasty with fantastic yolks to eat.

Thanks for sharing Connie’s new project. Just love the fabric n pattern.

We may hit 70 up here in Idaho today. Things are still thawing n the little Chipmunks are coming out of their winter holes. Hurry Spring!

Love this quilt Connie. Would you consider making up Fabric with pattern for us to purchase? The fabric you used is so perfect. I’d be forever finding anything like it. Oh and yes I’d need a wonderful jacket like you’re wearing to match. It’s wonderful. Anita Fetzer

Anita – we do not have a shop anymore! How would we put together a fabric kit? Plus this fabric is many years old and no longer available. Go online and buy the pattern and just follow the colors – I wish more than anything that this blog was available to me while we were still open for business. We might still be open! Hahaha! I could reach so many customers via my blog – I appreciate your sentiments and willingness to do business with us – I only wish we still had the business to accommodate your order.

What a fun quilt…O & X & plus! Don’t think I’ve ever made a quilt with the same fabric as the pattern, but this one is adorable!

What an interesting quilt! Looks like fun. I just got back from a trip to the Missouri Star Quilt Company in Hamilton Missouri and I now have more projects to start. Can’t live long enough to make all the wonderful quilts that I see and love. Connie’s is beautiful – quite a work of art. If you make one I’m sure it will be wonderful and I would love to see what fabrics that you would use.

And I agree with Anita Fetzer’s comment!

A beautiful spring day here. Seems like it’s this way all across the country. Yah!!
Connie’s quilt is awesome. Can’t wait to see yours.
The baby chicks make me want to run out and get some, especially since I am losing my oldest and most favorite hen. I think maybe she has gone blind. Has any chicken owner out there had this happen? She just stares down at the ground. Last night I picked her up and placed her on her roost. She seemed happy about that. Just now I hand fed her and she was hungry. Water, the same. She barley moves, but can. Just don’t know what to think.

Hi Mary…I also have looked at a lot of sites and cannot find this pattern. Any suggestions? Thanx! Maybe spring is here….?

I started that quilt a few years back when it was all the rage. Have a bunch of blocks made but still need more. I have the stack out so that hopefully I’ll get back to it and finish it before too much more times goes by.
