No more books! 9-19-22

I’m out of books and if you ordered recently I’ll be sending your check back to you unless you tell me to just tear it up.  I hadn’t gotten but a handful of orders in the past few days so I packed up the remaining books and shipped them back to Martingale today.  From now on books will need to be purchased from Martingale, Amazon or your local quilt shop.

September is a cruel month – the weather is so sunny and warm!  It looks perfect to sit in the sun and read a book.  BUT…..then the bugs attack.  The no-seeums, the sweat bees and the flies drive me back indoors.  Cruel.

I’m not too sure what’s happening but I suspect I’m experiencing long Covid – after being so very sick on August 24-25 I first had a dry cough which has now turned into a vicious cough in my chest.  I ate cough drops non-stop in church yesterday which gave me a stomachache Sunday afternoon and today I’ve been on the couch watching the queen’s funeral and napping.  This is not normal for me.

I’m so glad I ordered my book from you earlier. I absolutely love it. I can’t decide which quilt to try first. Thank you and Connie for being so creative. Hope you feel better!

Take care of yourself. Up the vitamin C , make some chicken soup and rest. It’s so aggravating when you’re sick and need to do so many things but rest is more important. I had gout a few weeks ago and the meds they gave me ate a hole in my stomach so had to have surgery. So I need to tell myself to rest and take care. I’m a go getter like you and it’s hard to sit still.

Those no-see-must are so nasty! Man do they hurt! And flies and then stink bugs!
It’s going to get cool here by the weekend!

Oh no! I hope you are feeling better soon! Rub Vic’s Vapor rub ( on the soles of your feet then put socks on and go to bed) it really does help you with your cough.
I’m so glad that I got my book today! WooHoo

  6. Colleen in Oregon

Sending healing thoughts and prayers your way.

Hope you feel better soon. Better go see the doctor.

  8. Launa

Sorry you aren’t feeling well! MAYBE YOUR DOCTOR WILL PRESCRIBE THE COVID TABLETS?
Praying you recover quickly, Mary! Too many critters depend on you!

  9. Kathy in western NY

Your resistance could just be down right now after being so sick end of August and after being out in a crowd at the quilt show you might have picked up another bug. Symptoms take 24-48 hours after being exposed to something.
Keep track of the raspy cough though as I have heard of so much pneumonia following Covid so might not hurt to be seen by your doctor. Prayers for a restful sleep tonight.

Mary, I’m sorry that you are feeling so sick and unhappy with not being able to be outside in this fall weather. You have had many things happening to you and Rick. When we are used to good health it is hard to accept anything else. My prayers are with you both. Peace Micky

Darn it..missed getting your autograph! I’ll buy the book on Amazon. I hope you do not have long Covid. Rest a bit…see your physician. Don’t forget your flu shot and new Covid shot.

  12. Debra Reber

So sorry you aren’t feeling well. Hope you feel better soon. I tried to take my dog for a walk yesterday afternoon, but got eaten up by bugs, so it was a very short walk! Next time I will try putting bug spray on to see if that helps.

There are so many things about Covid that we don’t know and it’s so frustrating!!’
I had Covid in May and also had the cough that seemed to last all summer. My Dr. finally gave me an inhaler which helped immensely!
The fatigue is finally getting better, but it lasted all summer also.

    Hoping you feel better soon!

  15. Beverly in O-H-I-O

I too, am sorry you are feeling bad again. Get tested again, so you will know for sure.

Sort of a sad story that turned out great—4 cute puppies were found in a suitcase beside a local highway–the spotter said the zipped-up case was moving.!! He was a hero and took them to the local animal shelter and they are getting them ready to be adopted. Praise God!!!

My book arrived in the mail today, Thank You so much!!! I am enjoying dreaming of all I want to do.

Covid is a lingering evil viral monster.

Very important to stay hydrated. I have begun drinking a DRIP DROP ( dehydration relief ) whenever I experience fatigue that is it normal for me, or if have muscle cramps in my legs or just the brain fog ( more than the normal )… it offers fast dehydration relief. I put one package in cold bottle of water & mix (shake) it up then pour over ice to drink.. not bad tasting & depending on flavor pleasant even. I order it from Amazon ( I get the 16 stick package) .. juicy classics.. keep a stick in my purse & 1 in glove box of car. Here in Texas is easy to get dehydrated fast. Strawberry lemonade my favorite . Not as high in sodium or sugar as Gatorade or a lot of the other sport drinks. Think would be good idea to keep on hand. Hope you are feeling better soon.

My brother got pneumonia after having covid. I sure hope that’s not what you have but you may want to be checked. Both of my parents have covid now. My sister took my mom to two ERs – one Saturday and another Sunday. She was very dehydrated and the first one didn’t even give her an IV before sending her home. Two bags of fluid at the second and she is home now.
Covid is a tough one to fully recover from – lots of fluid and lots of rest.

So sorry to hear you are sick again, Mary. I am sending healing prayers your way. I hope Keeper is taking good care of you.
    Love the new book. 🥰

Oh Mary, that sounds awful. It could be long Covid. My doctor told me to double up on Vitamins C and D and zinc when I had Covid. Maybe that will help you, too.
I am also sorry I didn’t get to order the book. With my brother passing and trips to CT, two quilt shows that I’m in, and house guests, I thought I’d order it today. Darn. I always like it when I have one signed by you and Connie.
It is going to be 90* on Wednesday and then go down to the 60’s. Yippee. I am a cold weather person:)
Take care, Mary. I hope you get better soon!!!

If you had to be down, I’m glad you had something to watch on tv. I saw pieces of the service…it was beautiful.
I do hope you get to feeling better. Nothing worse than being down. It’s so frustrating. I wonder if long Covid can return many times? It is a puzzle. Staying well hydrated can’t hurt. I hope it’s gone very quickly.
Sounds like my book is on its way, yeah!

  22. Sue H

I’m glad you’re listening to your body and resting. That and drinking plenty of fluids is exactly what you need. Here’s to a quick bounce back to good health!

  23. Rita in Iowa

Mary so sorry you are not feeling well. COVID is nothing to full around with. My daughter was put on antibiotics because the cough lingered so long and it all tend s to settle in the chest. Take care and get some rest.

  24. Mareen

I agree about all the bugs, etc. Hope you get to feeling better Mary. People say that it takes forever if they get the after effects from it if that is what it was – shots or not shots – hope it is not as severe since you got the shots………take care!

  25. Beverly in Texas

Prays you feel better soon. I had Covid in August & it left me with extreme fatigue for a couple of weeks afterward.
Wasn’t the Queen’s funeral so touching & magnificent!

    1. Mary Etherington Post author

Yes, I was glued to the tv with some naps thrown in so I missed parts of it. It was magnificent!

I bet my payment and envelopes arrived yesterday or today. Sorry I missed the opportunity for an autographed edition from you and Connie. I should be faster.
