Regarding my positive test for Covid – I felt perfectly fine yesterday and today, too, so it came on fast and went away almost as fast. I went from being exhausted and achy to fine in a very short time. Yay!
Some great reader quilts:

The last two quilts were made by Connie with our pattern called Layer By Layer each using one layer cake. Don’t they look so nice on her new couches?
It’s late – goodnight all!
Good to hear you are feeling better.
So glad to hear you’re feeling better!! My two sisters and sister in law are still sick unfortunately. They must have had a different strain.
Love all of the quilts today. That yo-yo quilt is unusual and fun. The red and white star quilt is beautiful. I have license plate blocks I need to use. I’m happy for an idea. And Connie’s two quilts look great on her new sofas. And then the mini quilts and wall hanging. So many great quilts.
We’ve been watching both hockey and basketball playoffs. Dallas teams the Mavericks and Stars are both in. We’ll see how far they go. It’s made for late nights though so we sleep late in the morning.
Take care. Glad you’re feeling better!
So glad you are all clear and have your energy back!!
It looks spring might be here!! Today was beautiful, less wind and sunshine and blue skies. Wonderful!
Hope you didn’t get too far behind. All of your critters will be happy to see you back at it. Rest when you need too!
Glad to hear you are none the worse for wear. Vaccines and booster probably had something to do with that👍👍.
I’m off to a long weekend retreat, the first since last year at this time. I haven’t seem some of the women for over 2 years, though😱😱. I’m.Ike a kid waiting for Christmas morning. Just have to pack my “clothing” suitcase. Quilting stuff is packed, semi-organized, and most of it is already in the car. Drop one dog off for boarding in the morning, and then I’m off🙌🙌🙌. WooHoo!!!
Rosie- be sure and tell us what you worked on at the retreat!
Hi Mary, glad to hear you are feeling better! The quilt show was great today, l am making slow progress with my scrap quilt, life gets in the way! Best wishes to everyone, sandy
So glad you are feeling better Mary! I enjoyed the quilt show and I really like Connie’s Layer by Layer quilts. So pretty. Take it easy.
love the license plate quilt – the quilt shops around me that use to do “their” plate are now gone – retired. great memories….
Is the pattern layer by layer available? Does it take 1 layer cake?
How can I get that pattern layer by layer. Can I download?
Thanks for letting us know you got through this virus. Always good news to hear. My 88 yr old friend came home from the hospital not even coughing now from catching covid after being in there from a fall so she has faired better than her younger family who were quite sick but had not been boosted yet.
The quilts are such a delight to see and admire. And one little cutie got to try out her sewing skills so someone has passed on a wonderful hobby to the next generation.
It’s very sunny here today so it helps to see the colors of fabric so well as I finish tidying up my sewing room today and look to dabble with a project. I love being in my sewing room as it is so comforting. Hope yours is coming back in shape for you Mary.
So glad you are feeling better Mary! Really love the quilts today especially your layer by layer one, they look Awesome on Connie’s couch!
The reader quilts are the BOMB this morning. My eyes are HAPPY.
Hi Mary, So glad you are feeling better. I couldn’t find the pattern Layer by Layer. Is it still available?
A special girl made her first quilt. Great job. I hope she continues to sew.
Connie’s quilts look nice on her new couches.
Glad you are feeling better. Enjoy the nice weather but, take things slower too.
Mary glad you’ve recovered already. I just ended isolation yesterday & still lingering Covid symptoms. Taste is slowly returning but still not fully returned. Still a subtle headache & just all around blah. Not ready to tackle my “to do list”
I can’t seem to shake this headache.
You’re bout w/Covid certainly was super short. I guess I’ll keep hoping for fewer symptoms each day & hope I feel decent on my bday 🙏. Yes those quilts are pretty.
So glad you are feeling better!
What a happy little girl with her patchwork! Nice job! Took me back to when my two granddaughters were that age and learning to sew. When the first one went to kindergarten her teacher asked me “Please tell me how your granddaughter knows what a 1/4 inch is and how she learned to read a ruler” Two years later the same teacher said she supposed this child also quilts? haha Both girls are now in their 20’s
Reader’s quilts are so pretty. Did Connie finish those quilts since her move? So glad you managed to get Connie’s kitty for her and now her new home can feel like home. She’s a beautiful cat. Like you said, the new owners had strange voices. Can’t imagine how frightened she was. Good job!
Is your pattern Layer by Layer in a book or is it a stand alone pattern. it makes a lovely quilt.
Happy your bout with Covid wasn’t serious.
As a cat lover, I was happy to hear of the happy ending for Connie’s cat My husband’s childhood move resulted in the family cat running off. The neighbor was able to corral him a day later and after a three hour each way drive, he was reunited with his family.
Oh Mary I’m glad you are better so fast I love all of the quilt today the wall hanging one of embroidery is a block from a quilt I made the entire quilt it’s really cool but lots of work when my sew sisters and I seen it it was a block of the month so all six of us signed up and sadly only two of us finished it but I think a couple of those girls have that same block done what a great idea to turn into a wall hanging love all the rest also What a great picture of a little girl learning to quilt she looks so proud
Mary, so glad to hear you are feeling better. I would love to know from Connie what layer cakes she used for her quilts. I love them both.
Hi Sue
The gray and cream/white one was made from “Even more Paper” by Zen Chic. The other is “Cinder” by Basic grey…it was an older layer cake. Thanks for asking.
Connie
Thanks so much!
So glad you feel so much better. Thank you for the quilt show too. Love Connie’s quilts-they both are so pretty.
Good Morning – Connie here
I’m so glad you liked the quilts I made with the “Layer by Layer” pattern. Right now you can get this paper pattern by sending $5.00 (check or cash) to Country Threads, 2345 Palm Ave. Garner, IA 50438. It will be offered as a pdf soon. I LOVE this pattern because it is made from a Layer Cake, add a bit more fabric for the block center and that is all you need. The cutting is the key…with little wasted fabric! I made these 2 quilts while we were in Florida, and just recently got them back from the quilter. I put my 5 extra (orphan) blocks on the back!
One other quick request, if you enclose your address label, or SASE that would be greatly appreciated. It makes for a speedy delivery! My Best, Connie
I just saw this after I sent my comment🙀😂 so my check is in the mail. Wishing all a JOY filled Mother’s Day!
Hi Mary…so happy to know you are better. Always enjoy the “quilt show” of so many talents. The little girl sewing is how I started. I like the yo-yos and could see that as a window treatment. I just came in from planting “birdhouse” gourd seeds. Rain is on the way. It is welcome as there are drought conditions. A few nights have been stormy! Plenty of Get Well wishes to you and Rick.
I’m glad you are feeling better! Do you still sell this quilt pattern, looks like one I’d like to make. I have LOTS of layer cakes.
I have no idea where my comments are going…they just disappear. So this is somewhat a test.
Mary, I’m so glad you’re better. As busy as you are, Covid can’t keep you down.
The quilt show is always wonderful, today is no exception.
We have had rain, glorious wonderful rain. Thank the Lord.
I had lunch with the operators last week. We haven’t seen each other in 2+1/2 years! So good to see their faces and catch up on their lives.
I hope all you moms, and moms to critters, have a wonderful Mother’s Day.
Again, Mary, I’m so glad you’re better.
Jo in Wyoming – got this one, Jo!
So glad you are on the mend! And, I LOVE Connie’s quilts and sofas. You two are the best! Thanks for keeping us motivated with projects and photos.
Mary, I’m so glad you are feeling so much better. I, too, really like the reader’s quilts you have posted the last few days. Connie’s quilts look nice with the new couches. I need to go see what extra layer cakes I have around my sewing room.
Mary, I’m glad your bout with Covid was short-lived, and you’re feeling better. I LOVE the bookcase with the small quilts on the wall. The red and white quilt is an eye-catcher, isn’t it? Also like the embroidery, right up my alley!
Mary, So happy to hear you are feeling better. Love the small quilts above the bookcase and especially the red and white quilt. I was wondering how you hung the small quilts to the wall. pinned?
So happy that you recovers quickly Mary and are back to yourself. I’m sitting in the Vets office. Long story, took my friends sick kitten to the Vet. They have the most amazing video playing of seals, turtles anemone and sharks swimming in the ocean. It’s called Relaxing the Soul. I can’t stop watching it!!
Good to hear you are feeling much better, Mary. The Yoyo quilt reminded me of the beautiful ones my Grandmother and Aunt made many years ago. MIne is all blues and my sister’s is all pinks. I also made 225 yoyos, glued them on clothes pins, then, we color coordinated them to the quilts in our quilt show to hold the info with name, designer etc. I love those! It warms my heart to see the little girl with the special person who taught her to quilt. Yippee. I also love the other quilts:) So many ideas!
There is a big sale at a quilt shop in Amish Country tomorrow and 100% rain predicted. That won’t stop us!
Keep taking care of yourseilf, Mary. Is Rick still Covid free? Hope so.
Diane – we’re both fine but Rick also tested positive shortly after I did.
Diane,
Which amish store are you hitting the sale at? One of our favorite areas to camp.
I love Connie’s quilts. Where can I find the pattern? I looked on your site.
Thanks,
Marilyn
So glad your feeling better!
So glad that you are feeling better, and it happened quickly. I also love seeing red and white quilts, hope to make one in my lifetime, lol. Connies 2 quilts are wonderful and seeing them in different colorways is really nice. Its getting warm and humid here in middle TN and I will start to spend more time inside and quilting. Our peonies are blooming and its strawberry picking time. Hope spring arrives soon for all of you who live north.
My order for Layer by Layer is on the way. I sure would also like to know what pattern the red and white star quilt is. Great reader quilts again today!
