This is Cindy K’s quilt she made for her grandson which I gave credit last night to Li. What did I tell you about getting mixed up! And right now there are many pictures waiting to be posted. Keep your fingers crossed and if I screw up, please tell me so I can repost.

Still accepting plaid quilt photos. A reader suggested I call for double knit quilts which don’t interest me but send them if you like – I will post them. Are they really even quilts????

From the porch….

I’m better with animals than I am weeds.

Donita is just the cutest looking goat. Love her coloring and markings.
What a great plaid quilt show! And baby Donita sure is cute. I can see the goats in the pasture across the lane from my house. My favorite time is when the babies are out playing. Did any readers ever take “goat yoga”? People do yoga & mini goats crawl over them.
Des – I’ve done goat yoga unintentionally – ha! I bend over to pick something up and a baby will jump on top of my back – I just think its fun!
I’m loving the plaid quilt parade. I have one of my own in the works right now. It is a Kim Diehl pattern with appliquéd flowers in the boarder corners. I have the applique pieces all ready to go but, just need to sew them to the boarder. New technique for me so, I’m dragging my feet.
It was in the 80’s here yesterday and windy, as it has been for the last couple weeks. A little much needed rain today and in the 50’s.
So good to see all your animals enjoying themselves outdoors.
I love the animals and the weeds and the birds and the chickens and the house plants and your weather and the quilts and this blog, MARY! Thanks a bunch!
That’s my sweetie Theo in front of the H-quilt I made my son. He would love to have his own T-quilt—good idea you’ve given me!
Roxanne – I made Farmer Tim a T quilt – his name is Tim Tusha so double duty!
My first quilt was a double knit…”.Polly Esther Sue”. Hand appliquéd Sunbonnet Sue. I had a magazine article on quilting with two patterns. I had loads of poly knit fabric scraps from clothing I had made in the 60’s and 70’s. It is a quilt, it has three layers. I had no idea what I was doing. In 1972 I was home on maternity leave and needed a nap time project. It is just as bright today as it was then.
Donita is so cute! And the dog sitting on the quilt is adorable too. And chickens in the yard make me smile.
It’s been quite warm and we had rain and thunderstorms overnight. We needed the rain. Now wind today. Hope nothing severe up your way Mary.
I have a quilt on the long arm 2/3rds done. It’s already late as my youngest grandson graduated high school this past week. I will have the quilting done before I leave on my bus trip.
Maybe the goats will eat the weeds? I saw a news story about a man who rents goas out to clear out weedy areas here in Des Moines. Poison ivy or whatever – they cleared it. Juat a thought.
Not going to church this morning. Threw out my back. Haven’t had this pain for many years, hoping it goes away soon. Too much to do this week to be in pain.!
Got my nephews wedding quilt all put together yesterday. Will have it quilted, then I’ll post.
More storms tonight….
Diana – oh, no! Back pain makes everything g hurt, doesn’t it?
It’s a common misconception that goats will eat anything – they won’t. They’re very fussy and those Rent A Goats are starved so they’ll eat those weeds. Goat herds eat kudzu that has taken over – my goats? Never. Haha!
I didn’t know that! I’ll see the rent a goats in a new light now!
I’m feeling better but that could be the drugs. Lol. Sitting in my sewing room watching the Cubs. I see a nap in my afternoon.
for the double knit quilts i would say they are in the spirit of quilt origination–using what one has for meeting ones needs. Using old clothing scraps to create something to keep the family warm , or add some beauty without having to spend money that was most likely short. It is also a better use of the double knit than filling up the city dump. so, yes, they do qualify as the strictest sense of the word.
Brenda – in my opinion double knit “quilts” are not actually quilts but coverlets – no batting. Google agrees with me.
All these plaid quilts are great. I’m really enjoying the quilt show.
Got back at home late Thursday. Glad to be back in my own bed but miss my granddaughter already. She had a bad cold so we stayed extra days to help out, but of course now I have her cold. Before we knew she was sick she was sharing my water bottle. Not a good idea. Oh well. The weather was beautiful at home and now we are having rain off and on which is good for the plants. I’m hoping to finish planting in my veggie garden tomorrow but need to buy some dill, brussel sprouts, cauliflower and broccoli. We ended up having an extra raised bed that we didn’t have plants for. I’m excited because for the first time in years we have a veggie garden in full sun all day. We are hoping for a good yield.
We couldn’t believe how much Scarlett, the baby horse has grown. She is so much taller and still very cheeky. She’s learning to be led in with her halter and lead line without bucking and rearing.
I think Donita’s nickname could be ‘Dot’ or ‘Dotty’’. She even has a dot in her tail … so cute! It’s going to be fun to watch them grow and explore.
Candy – OK! Great idea – DOT she will be! I also have a hen named Dot
Made me smile! Now I have TWO namesakes at your house. I’m enjoying all the plaid quilts. Good, comfy, homey quilts.
Dot – it’s a popular name here, isn’t it? 😊
I love Donita’s pretty brown fur with polka dots—DOT is a great nickname for her!
Wonderful pictures today. The plaid sashing is perfect for the t-shirts quilt.
I went to Laramie, about 50 miles west, and celebrated Mother’s Day. I got a handmade apron with chickens all over it. My son cooked a beautiful breakfast. He put crème fresh in the scrambled eggs. Very good.
I played with Kira. That puppy is huge and hairy. She is getting her hysterectomy this week and stomach stapled. Apparently, that helps keep their innerds from twisting when they get older and roll.
She goes downstairs and rings the bell when she needs to go out. I took carrots for a treat. She loved it. Because she can’t wear a lampshade after her operation, I suggested a t-shirt. It will be much cooler and can get a clean one everyday. This outing will be hard on both, Kira and the parents.
She knows sit, down, shake, stay, come, no, downstairs, upstairs, slobber towel, kennel up. Loretta knows sit…not stay, just sit!
We are forecasted to rain this week 🤞👏👏👏
Love all the plaid quilts. Cindy, the quilt for your grandson is stunning. What a clever back. Jeanine, your quilts are also great as are the T-shirt and H quilts. Thanks for sharing everyone!
Have a restful Sunday.
What a great photo of the H quilt with the sweet dog.
