Loved all the pictures. The flowers are beautiful everywhere. We have been having some heavy rain off and on so watering hasn’t been necessary on the deck but the front porch flowers have to watered regularly/.

I am headed out again to another retreat, this time in NE and I don’t do much computer time at this one. I am lucky to keep up games. The next two days will be retreat prep but I will squeeze in computer time. I recently had to operate on my computer but it was successful but they make it much easier than it used to be. I relied on hubby too much but the past 10 yrs I have had to wing it!

I love all of the pictures today – so many good ones to sit and enjoy. And a visit from Hank to cheer you up.
We drove from Joplin home today (we drove from Davenport to Joplin yesterday). We ran into rain in Oklahoma but then the sky cleared. We lost 3 tree limbs in our big bur oak in the strong wind storm the other day. We didn’t miss the two days of no electricity since we weren’t home. Our son and a friend took care of the cats.
At the Iowa house, I worked in the yard some more. So much to do. There are two trumpet vines on trellises and volunteer trumpet vines all over under the deck and in the flower beds. We lost three trees that were dying and had 6 more trees trimmed up. The yard was as neglected as the house was. It had just gotten to be too much for the elderly couple to care for. I sure hope they would appreciate the work we’re doing on their house.

Susan K – all that yard work and cleanup!!!! Won’t you be glad when you reach maintenance mode? I do not envy you all that hard work but it has to be done. I wanted a trumpet vine so bad about 42 years ago and my neighbor Emma gave me a start. Now I can’t get it stopped!! It’s everywhere!

I agree with the stories of veterans and the children My children participated in parades and Memorial Day celebrations when they were in band. That and Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts were good demonstrations of patriotic duty. My grandson is at Basic for Marines on Parris Island.. My first experience with this. It is hard but I’m proud of him.

    Mary,
Loved all the quilts today, big and small. Cute pup and love the flag/boy picture. Beautiful needlepoint pictures!
Worked nearly all day in the garden! Planted the rest of my tomatoes and peppers. Have only a few small, but growing flowers in my greenhouse. Wanted them Planted by June 1st but may have to give them another 10 days.
Still very sad about Telly. Hope you’re doing ok.

The pictures are always fun to look at.
Our local quilt guild has its show this weekend. There is no judging, just viewer’s choice awards. I’ll try to get some pictures of those that catch my eye.

Love all the pictures of home decor, quilts, dogs and flowers. And the little bog setting out flags. Teaching him young that our veterans are so important. Made a Costco and Sam’s run with my sister and the lunch at Red Lobster. Came home and put things away and started wash. These things never end. Will work outside tomorrow till the rain comes later Friday and then hope to sew some. My day in a nutshell.

Rita – I live your day in a nutshell – sounds so familiar and comfortable – except for the Red Lobster -closest is 2+ hrs away

Sorry to hear about Telly. Enjoyed all your pictures of her. Hank has sure grown. Quite the weather we
have been having. We didn’t get any rain today so far. We have been working outside a lot lately. Not
much sewing. Our thoughts are with you.

Mary….thank you for continuing to post even in your grief. Telly was certainly special to so many of us. I know we all love seeing all the photos you get sent and can’t wait to see Hank! Hugs…❤️

It is so niceof Hank to visit. I hope he helped you and Rick and Hazel. It is so hard to lose a beloved pet🥲. I love the photo of the little boy putting flags on the graves. That is a very good way to learn about our revered Veterans.
Cool this AM, but beautiful day😀.

    1. Connie R.

Diane- I too love the photo of the boy putting out the veterans flags. The children need to be taught early what Memorial Day is all about. His parents taught him right.

      1. Diane and the gang in Central Ohio

I agree, Connie! It is a lesson we learned early by putting our flag out and marching in the parade. There were so many Veterans just in our small town in NY. Of course, most were from WWII including my dad and both uncles.

    2. Sherry Whalen

Our son, DIL and 2 littles -7 & 5 (and us, last year) go to Ft. Snelling and put flags at graves every weekend before Memorial Day, and then return to take them down after. It was very interesting and solemn when we explained why we were putting out flags to honor the soldiers.

I’m so sorry to hear about Telly. I know how hard it is to lose a beloved pet. They leave us too soon. But she had the best life with you and Rick. I hope you had a good visit with Hank.

Mary, So sorry for the loss of Telly. Love all the pictures of her. She reminded me of my Maggie.

I look forward to seeing how Hank has grown into those feet, he will be boundless energy. So glad he could come and play. We are finally moved into the new house and are living in a sea of boxes. The rental is empty, fully cleaned and ready to surrender the keys back to the landlord. Our new home is partly cleaned, lots of construction dust. So glad we have a home purifier and a good furnace filter to help me breath. Our yard is complete sand and will become a fall project. Now to find a place for everything in the boxes. Moving is a lot of work.

    1. Mary Etherington Post author

The boxes are a sign of progress!! You’ll find a place for everything! And I read your last thought to Rick – moving is a lot of work. No kidding. I’m moving only to the undertakers home.

      1. Kim from Wi

This is our last move, next move will also be the undertakers. New homes are missing the closets of the older homes we have owned. The younger generation doesn’t need them, since they don’t have stuff……I have stuff, lol

        1. Mary Etherington Post author

Kim – I love your statement – I have stuff! I, too, have stuff and I love it! My house would feel so cold without it.

I’m so sorry to hear about Telly, it opens up the wounds of loosing beloved pets. I still miss my first German Shepherd which was over 45 yrs ago. I hope to see her again in heaven. I’m thinking about you. Hope Hanks visit wea great and can’t wait to see the pictures

I’m so glad Hank came to give you some puppy love!! Anxious to see pictures. Was Hank able to cheer up Hazel?
Jay and I finished planting the garden. I don’t do much but I did plant a couple of plants and then I started the water. We are suppose to get rain today. We are so used to having the garden all crowded because we have to many pants. This year we don’t have many paints so they have plenty of room. Down to 3 tomato plants, I pepper, I cucumber, 2 watermelon and 2 cantaloupe.
I haven’t been in my cave for two days! So better go to it!
