Now – I tried to keep track but it’s such a shame I can’t transfer all the text accompanying each picture because I enjoy it and I know you would, too.
Now you will have to comment among yourselves with questions. Not the best setup, I agree. It would take me a whole day to cut and paste. I just can’t.
Twyla – will you answer the reader, I think Darlene, with questions about your quilt?
Here are two finishes that I know you’ll love!

Now I’m going to delete all these photos so hold your breath that I do it correctly.

Today, 7/21, I read about your visit to the ER and the problems you are having and I am so sorry. If I were there I would make all the phone calls for you. I know how annoying it can be to figure out problems like this. I hate to think your GP did not send you for tests right away. Seems like malpractice to me. Also I could not comment on that page and I have never had a problem commenting before. I am just so upset they they make things so difficult these days just to get health care done. You will be constantly in my thoughts. Yes, I was wondering.
Isn’t that just the case? When you need your wits about you the most, take medication and it is a challenge to walk across the room, much less make a phonecall. I sure do wish they would find those results.

Love seeing everyone’s sewing spaces, they are all great.
Hope you feel better soon Mary ,have been concerned about all your medical issues. Sending healing hugs.
Can’t find a place to leave Comments on the latest update.
I am praying very hard and often that you get the help you need NOW
I’m having the same problem with commenting. There’s no place that says comment and so I can’t comment until someone else comments and there’s a number indicating how many replies there have been made. I’m frustrated but I know Mary is suffering with pain. I doubt you can help me just don’t know what to do.
Marvelous idea Mary. Seeing how everyone works in their creative space is very inspirational.
I’ve been “downsizing and condensing” my small sewing room for many months now. Finally beginning to see some progress. Have been working on cleaning up mine today. Will try to send photos when it’s done.
Hope you feel better soon Mary. Oh and we’ve gotten a bit of much needed rain lately so we cooled off today.
San / Murphy, NC
I’m enjoying all the sewing room pictures, mine is very small & messy right now.
So glad you have a friend helping you with hospital problems, I know it’s hard to wait, hopefully you are resting.
Love all the sewing rooms! Mine is a mess!
Mary I am so sorry about your tests being in limbo! Ugh! Hope they figure it out soon!
Those baby birds are really ugly but they will so be beautiful!
It is sprinkling here!
Great pictures today. I love seeing all of the sewing rooms. I’ll have to send some of mine. Mine is so messy now. I want to sew instead of cleaning.
Mary, I hope hope Mayo finds your pathology report soon and gets your schedule set up. I know it’s stressful to wait and to try and manage the process when you don’t feel well.
Thanks to everyone for sharing pictures of their sewing rooms. I love them all, especially the ones with quilts in progress or finished quilts on display. I’ll try to send pictures of my own happy place later today.
Sheryl, I love the idea of long shelves to display things that you love. I need to make some for my sewing space and put some of my collections up to enjoy. Nice to see the Raggedy Ann & Andy dolls in the rooms, sweet idea. I so appreciate everyone sharing of there creative space for the res t of us to see.
Kim – me, too – it takes a village, you I iw
Thank you! My space is small but it is my favorite place to be!
Love the baby blue birds! How sweet! Love looking at all the sewing rooms. Gloria, love that seed bin, it’s in excellent shape. It’s been many years since I’ve seen one that nice. The “sewing room” pictured in the lake picture is mine for the next 8 days. I’ll explain the 4 pictures. My friend & I are pet sitting while the owner of this lake house is on vacation. I’ve watched her dog (s) for the past 15+ yrs for one reason or another. Surgeries/vacations. I always bring projects & everything I need to sew with. 1st picture is of Lake Lorelei in Fayetteville, Oh. Picture #2 is my pressing station on the counter in the kitchen. #3 is where I’m cutting out the pattern. My cutting mat fits perfectly on the top of the glass top stove! #4 is of my travel machine overlooking the lake. Just a very lovely place to sew! Lots of natural light. At home in SW Ohio I sew in a 12′ x14′ sunroom. I do have AC & heat in there, but try to work when I need neither. It’s an expensive room to heat/AC! I’ll post pictures after I return home.
I’ve really enjoyed the tour of all the sewing rooms. Great idea, Mary!!!
Wonderful fun photos to enjoy again! Thanks everyone for sharing these with us. Love them all!!!
I just came back from being all pumped up with water for my veins to get my blood drawn for a doctors appt and their computers are down with the issue today so I could not get it. Going to have rearrange next weeks schedule now to get in a fasting blood draw. I told her my doctors were next door to call and get a list of tests required but she said her supervisor did not approve her to do that for each patient. I feel for folks having surgery today and the debacle this has caused. Mine is minor.
Great pictures of sewing spaces. Loved the closet doors removed and then how everything fit in the room. Don’t we all love a good view from our sewing machines. Great quilt pictures also. Mary, I hope the anxiety from waiting for results will be ended soon. Nothing makes us more anxious than having to wait to hear about results. Bless you.
Thanks everyone, for sharing your sewing room pictures. Mine is our kitchen table , which is why my husband and I eat our meals in front of the TV. I’m envious of those who have an entire sewing room. I love that one of the contributors showed a picture of the quilt pattern she was working on. Makes me think I may have that pattern and should start on it.
Best of luck, Mary, on navigating though the hospital system. Glad to hear you have help. Continued prayers for your recovery.
Mary,
Thank you, it is a wonderful way to start my day.
Hope you get answers from Mayo soon, waiting is hard. Rest and recover, don’t overdo.
Hi Mary, l am going to love seeing all the sewing rooms(and where people sew, at the dining table and command centres, which is what l call my lazy boy and bits and pieces where l hand quilt). I have just a nook l have made between bookcases in the lounge for ,my machine on my sewing cabinet in my little granny flat. I wish l could be so neat and tidy with fabric, keeping it in boxes is the only way so no one sees the mess!l hope you get a good result from Mayo Mary, take care everyone, best wishes from Sandy
What a great couple of posts! I love seeing other people’s sewing rooms! I’ll take some photos of mine today. Thank you for posting them, Mary. I hope you are feeling a bit better and that the Mayo gets itself sorted out soon!
Beautiful quilt Rita! I enjoy looking at the studios as my son calls my sewing space. Prayers for you Mary.
Thanks Lisa, it is a quilt for my Great Niece graduation. Hope she will like it.
Too funny. I’m working on a quilt for my great nephew’s hs graduation. With all the rain we’ve had you’d think it would be done but work is interfering with my time. His sister received her hs graduation quilt in 2022. I can’t imagine your great niece not liking it.
Oh this was fun. Thanks for doing this, Mary. I love seeing sewing room photos. While I respect the neat and tidy rooms with everything in its place behind cabinet doors, I love most seeing the living, breathing sewing rooms with all the sewing stuff out in sight, always ready for duty. Colorful and full of texture just like a lovely quilt. Love your self portrait, Sheryl. Also, I was particularly envious of the large windows flooding the rooms with light.
Mary, thinking much about you as you wait for medical care.
Thank you. In 2020, Alex Anderson from the Quilt Show had classes on YouTube. She called the self-portrait quilts Avatar quilts. The quilts her viewers made were fantastic! They were so clever and used wild colors (purple, green, etc.) for their hair. One had cats in her hair. I wanted to make an Avatar quilt but couldn’t bring myself to go outside the box. My 10- and 6-year-old (in 2020) grandsons wanted to make Avatar quilts and chose fabric and helped find google images to make their favorite items to tell their story.
Rita, I forgot to add that I love, love your quilt , colors, and pieced back.
Jeanne, thanks it was a fun and easy quilt. Did not go to the quilt store for any fabric. The back might have been the biggest challenge as I was using up what was left from the top. And also the binding.
I had just an half inch to cut off when joining the binding together. Very close.
Wow, just Wow! What a wonderful group of sewing rooms, some look as big as our whole house. Congratulations to the ones with all the ribbons displayed in the walls. I hope you are sending pictures of your prize winning quilts to the blog so we can all share their beauty. And you must have at least one spool of every color of thread that is available. Another Wow! I would also like to know about the beautiful wood cabinet with the Christmas tree displayed on it. It ais very unusual. Loved the picture of the lake and the sewing room that looks out upon such a lovely area. Baby birds are so sweet as they begin to feather and wait for Mom to feed them. Please keep sending pictures of them so we can see how they look and mature before they fledge.
Mary, I’m praying tomorrow will bring a good report from Mayo. Good that you have someone to help you navigate all the red tape and can find your path report. Have a blessed week everyone and stay cool and safe.
mary, please update us on connie’s property – her dock and her slope. is all okay? i keep forgetting to ask.
patti in florida
Patti – I will , but remind me if I forget again
Mary thanks for all the sewing room pictures. I am jealous. My room you can barely turn around in after I put up my cutting table and ironing board. I will be moving next year. Hoping for a larger sewing room.
I hope your issues with Mayo get straightened out soon.
Take care.
more great sewing areas. the view of the lake is wonderful. we do love our lovely things in our sewing rooms. we make them as full as necessary and as many mementos as needed. things we want to see and enjoy. thanks for going into how that one sewing area was set up. most informative. hopefully people will step up and share more info with all of us. i totally understand how cumbersome it would be for you to try to copy all that info.
the quilts are wonderful. keeper and hazel look so comfortable.
today i worked on more pineapple blossom blocks. decided i’d make ten more so of course, i had to cut more yellow 3.5″ squares. will need to cut some more 2″ strips after this next round. also made some of a blue/cream block that i’m trying to decide if i like enough to make two panels 54×104 for curtains for the son. would be alot easier to just use fabric to make them with. ah well.
please stay safe and rest as needed. don’t do too much, just relax. enjoy your animals. where are the kitties? quilty hugs, patti in florida
Keeper and Hazel look all comfy and cozy, like they are settled in for naps. Resting on that wonderful porch has to be healing.
The pictures are great. Thanks, Mary 🥰
Gosh this is fun! I often thought my ideal job would be “Overloaded plug-in inspector” , just so I could see how others live! The crucible for creativity takes many forms! Thanks for sharing!
great idea. i want to be the ‘fabric inspector’. hehe patti in florida
Bonny, I have overloaded plug in things! Two strips and many things plugged in. Everything is not ‘on’ at the same time, but all plugged in.
All the photos are great! I wish you success in figuring out all the medical situations. It is so good to have a knowledgable friend to help.
I would love to have the sewing room that has a view of the water.
Good photo of Hazel and Keeper. They are such sweet companions!
Give them an extra hug from me. I wish I could hug them in person- and you too, of course. I hope you soon recover some of your energy. I know how that feels.
