Thank you!!

Reading your feedback I assume the problem is fixed. For those of you who don’t have the “leave a comment” box, I have to assume the problem is on your end and I can’t help you. Maybe try refreshing your page, close all the tabs and turn off your device?

I will have to add another step onto my posting routine but if that keeps us all in touch I’m very willing to do it!

Hazel is begging for a trip to the garden and then I guess I’ll start trimming all those HSTs.

Thanks for hanging in there with me. I’m holding my breath.

Lot is great pictures over the last week that I was unable to comment on. Some really beautiful quilts, your chickens look full grown and Hank playing with Keeper were hi lights.
Now that I have figured out the new way to comment it will be easier to give praise in a timely manner.
Thank you Mary for the time you invest in your most enjoyable blog!

Connie – I saw the picture of your lawn last night while Rick was sitting beside me and before reading I exclaimed over your lovely grass. I told Rick I wished my grass looked so level and gorgeous! Then I read your comment – fake grass!! Oh, did we have a good laugh!

    Happy Anniversary!
I ❤️🤍💙 flag quilts. 🇺🇸🇺🇸I will definitely send you pics of mine this upcoming week.
Thanks for continuing to do this blog about nothing & everything! Love❣️

Things seem to be fixed here as well. As I said previously, spectrum was doing an update. I’m reading & commenting on the blog. Lots of ads to close as well, more than the usual. I’m reading on an android phone if that helps you. I just finished watering flowers & plants. We certainly need rain & it’s hot here in SW Ohio! I noticed as I watered plants that the deer have eaten the blooms off of my hydrangeas, lilies, & my black eyed Susan’s! Only thing they haven’t gotten is the hanging baskets!! Just put more Irish Spring soap chips around everything! We’ve recently seen a doe running through the neighborhood in the middle of the day. This is rare.

    Mary,
Wishing you have a Happy Anniversary!
Hot here, but I wait for it all year. Love the sunshine!

I tried both clicking on the “47 comments” when I first read the post, and then I tried clicking on the post title. Both showed comments and gave me the “leave a reply” box.

We could use a bit of rain. It’s gotten too dry to do a proper job of weeding pulling things out by the roots. These last rains went to the north or the south of us. UGH – this happened last year too, turned dry in June for the rest of the year and that put an end to my weeding as my energy went to watering. No wonder it’s such a mess this year!

Hi, Mary! I just clicked on the 41 replies at the top and scrolled to the bottom and yahoo! I’m able to leave a comment. Thanks for yours and Richard’s hard work on this.
    Love the blog.

Sharon G – I’m just ready to turn out the light and thought I’d do one more check and there you were with good news! Oh, don’t we all hope this is over so we can get back to discussing more important things like quilts, dogs, flowers, books and the farm?!!!

ok.lemon bars. made from a Krusteaz mix – meyer lemon bar mix, add water, eggs and mix. the crumb bottom needs melted butter. it IS marvelous! i haven’t baked in a while (much prefer baking to regular cooking). this is soooo lemony, oh my. i’m overdosing on lemon. just saying so you will all know that i don’t always sew. for the last four to five days, i’ve been a klutz. even burnt the ** out of my fingers tonight to see in the crumb bottom was cooked. stupid! i know better. but the bars are worth it. lesson is don’t touch hot stuff when you are being klutzy, patti in florida

Like most readers, I don’t get the reply area in the email any more. So, I click on “Read on the blog” at the top right of the email. I don’t mind. It’s nice to read everyone’s comments. I finished up mulching all my little trees. … all 120+!!! I’ve also made chicken wire cages for all the deciduous trees… about 50 of those. That was necessary as the antelope love to munch on those trees. Now I’m preparing to drive to MN. We will be having a public celebration in two weeks to celebrate my mother’s 100th birthday.

    1. Mary Etherington Post author

Martha – how can we wish your mom happy 100th birthday? Cards? Or just here on the blog? 100 years should be celebrated and recognized!

  9. Sunflower 🌻 from Michigan

    Mary,
I also have always clicked on the title of the blog to go to a new screen where I can read your post and the comments and comment myself. No problem and no change for me these last few days.
Very hot here today. But someone in our neighborhood was giving away 3-4 yards of wood chips and so by 8 am my husband and I were at their house loading our trailer. We got two trailer loads plus one truck bed full. I am very happy but don’t understand how someone could order and pay for wood chips and miscalculate the amount they needed so badly! But, it’s great for me!
I’m just now reading the last few days blogs and in response to your questions, I’m catching up! It is about a 4-5 hour drive from southeast Michigan to Indianapolis. But, I usually stop along the way so it takes longer. I have my favorite quilt shops to stop at or might eat my lunch at a park and take a short hike. Really depends on how fast I have to get there! Also, my daughter is a Master Gardener in Indiana. And yes, Biscuit missed me! He practically stands on my feet, he gets so close to me and his whole body vibrates and his tail goes crazy!! Makes me feel soooo good! Dogs are wonderful. Have a great Friday everyone.

    1. Mary Etherington Post author

Sunflower- Connie is also a Master Gardener and I just have to admire from afar- I really hate gardening in the ground!! I love pots tho. Lucky you – all that mulch but lots of work. I can just see Biscuit welcoming you home!

  10. Kathy in western NY

I just went back and read the other previous blog posts and Patti is right. There are no ads to click on in the blog we get in an email. It’s not till we hit the title of the post to take us to the web, the ads come up. I guess I didn’t pay attention to that important fact before but it is imperative we click on those ads to keep your blog going for us. So certainly do not mind one bit having to go the extra tiny step to get to the “leave a reply “ box in order to click on the ads. Thank you again Mary for giving us this blog. And I think you finally got your son – Keeper – as he is as rambunctious as a little boy with their shenanigans like knocking you down with his excitement.

    1. Mary Etherington Post author

Kathy – yes, Keeper is my boy! Both he and Hazel can be too much to handle – it’s nearly dark and we just came into the porch. Surely they’ll be tired tonight! Honestly I never know what your page /screen looks like so I didn’t realize that you had to go online to comment or read the comments. We’ve all learned from this snafu – honestly, who knew one little update could create such chaos! Im glad now because we’ll get it all fixed at the same time and we’ll all be on the same page so to speak. I had no idea about the ads either. Thanks so much, Kathy!

      1. Kathy in western NY

Mary, Keeper will always remember you came back for him at the shelter. His connection to you was made when you fostered him. It was meant to happen which is heartwarming and I think he will keep you young for many years. Hazel too as terriers can be just as mischievous.

I’ve always clicked on the title to go to the blog, for other blogs I follow as well. Most of them were through WordPress. A couple of years back when everyone was having to change, I didn’t have any joy with Blogger, so I left those out. I’ve never had comments on any emails, only when I went to the blog. I do it automatically now. Comments give the blog a whole extra dimension – especially with questions and answers too.

    1. Mary Etherington Post author

Pauline – thank you for your comment! It’s true thst the comments and conversations among readers are soooo important. It’s what makes a blog fun! Chatting with friends over my morning coffee is just the best – some nights I can’t wait for morning just so I can join you all again. And I never ever want to be the one doing all the talking. If it comes to that I’ll close the blog because it’s not working as it should. Not only to I talk to my friends in the US, I find you in South Australia, Sandy in New Zealand, Fiona in the Netherlands and Fabie from France.

  12. Teresa from Port Coquitlam, BC

When I receive you email at the top it says “read on blog” when I do that I see the post you did as well as all the comments and I too can comment. It used to be I had a button in the email that said comment or see comments. Not a problem now I automatically just hit read the blog.
I can’t believe the size of that hail. We’ve never had hail here that size before. I feel sorry for the farmers crops. Have a wonderful day.

  13. Marie C

All good here. All I had to do was hit the leave a reply area. It was a hot day in east central Iowa. I made a strawberry rhubarb pie and some strawberry jam to use up the berries I had.

  14. Debbie G

I also have to read it on the blog but I’m noticing there’s many more ads on the blog than on the email that included the comment box.

    1. patti

clicking on all those ads helps mary pay for the blog. as much as we all wish it were free, we know it is not. patti in forida who is baking lemon bars – can’t wait til they are ready to eat – i love lemon

  15. Kimberly Lusin

Same here. I have to click on the blog in order to comment. I don’t mind the extra step because I enjoy your blog, Mary.

  16. Donna Jo

Now I can see the comments on your two earlier posts and on this one too! Glad it’s working! Sorry you had all these problems! I am computer challenged as well so I understand your frustration.

  17. Holly Vogltance

Your advice about closing tabs and restarting devices is spot on! That’s almost always the right fix!

  18. Pat in AZ

Mary, I don’t know how old Richard is but if appropriate, he surely deserves an iced tea!

    1. Mary Etherington Post author

Pat – he graduated from college last May and yes, we discussed ice tea! Haha!

  19. Sheila in WI

Glad it’s working. BTW: I usually had to click on the title in the email. Then I had your post, comments and box to comment in. A few people commented that they didn’t have the comment box. Perhaps they could try clicking on the title and see if they get better results.
Thanks so much for hanging in there!

Just checking in, I’ve been missing in action lately… I had Covid in February, got better by March, my husband had an aneurysm burst in his nose early April … technically a nosebleed, but a bathroom covered in blood, floor, sink, wallboard, tiles, toilet, 5 loads of laundry, three hospitals in three days etc etc etc. While he recovered, I had surgery because I thought, let’s be miserable together, I’ll get this over with. Five days later, another major bleed and as caretaker, instead of lady of leisure, it was piles of bloody laundry again, taking care of the basement litter box, cooking and everything else two people do together; my stitches separated, I didn’t realize it and I got an infection.
I would classify this reply as an “organ recital” if I gave the rest of the story but I think that’s enough explanation as to why I could read your posts and think… too tired to reply!
I’ve enjoyed the household collections and display posts, the quilt shows, the flower show, it’s been a highlight every day.
Hopefully I’ll be more engaged, especially as your site seems to work fine, Mary.

    1. Mary Etherington Post author

Carol – oh no!!! How can that many things go wrong at once? Do you have any family to help? Aren’t you glad you didn’t add my woes to your never ending list?? Obviously I’ve never heard of an aneurysm in your nose resulting in a more than major nose bleed!!!! And as you recovered you had to also be caregiver …. And there’s even more to the story? Good heavens!! You poor thing! Once again I wish I lived next door to give you a hand. No, you didn’t have time or energy to reply – haha! Now I hope you’re on the road to recovery and the blog is fixed, too.

      1. Carol at Pin Oak Quilting

We are doing well this week, thank you. It’s true at times, when it rains it pours, but I’m hoping for an uneventful summer.
I don’t have support, we ARE the support, that should make you laugh! My mother is 94, losing her vision, very frail. My sister’s husband is end stage renal failure, at home daily dialysis, her situation is very rough so I try to cook for her, at least four big meals a week. I’ve tried to keep that going. Our sons are in Ohio and Pennsylvania, they came home Mother’s Day weekend and did all of our pruning, planting, stump removal, etc, so the gardens look pretty good. Our PA son came home this weekend and cleaned the crawl space out, helped add cross bars to the floor studs to reduce squeaking in the family room, mulched all the gardens, replaced a track in the garage door… so much help, I’m grateful for that.
We can do more ourselves this week, we are hardly feeble, just recovering. I have a feeling our kids have finally noticed we’re old!

        1. Mary Etherington Post author

Carol – I love it! Not feeble – recovering and old! That describes a lot of us. I always say – what would happen to everybody if it was me who broke a hip? Who knows that Gracie only comes in the back door at 8:30 and Greta comes in the front door late at night right before I go to bed and I have to call her name? Who would know which chickens go out which door? Etc, etc! I am the caregiver. Sounds like your son really went to work for you – I hope he lived through all that physical work. And all that cooking, too? You are busy!!!

        2. patti

carol, glad to hear you are both doing better. glad you have sons close enough to come help, patti in florida

    2. Pat in AZ

Good grief, Carol! You have certainly had your hands full! Hang in there; it’s bound to get better

    3. Diane, Squeak, Buddy

So sorry to hear of your and your husband’s struggles, Carol. It seems they all come together. I hope both of you are healing and feeling better soon!! Rest and relax😀

      1. Kathy in western NY

Carol, I have been wondering how you are doing and was afraid you skipped to parts unknown after the winter snowstorm! But golly after reading your post, you sure have had a lot to tend to. I remember your husband had some sort of health issue at a restaurant before the aneurysm happened and you had gotten a new kitten. Thank you for checking in with us so I know you’re alive and well, just taking it one day at a time like many of us do sometimes as well.

  21. Ann in PA

No comment box in email but it’s there when I click at top to read on blog. No worries- we’re all connected!
Porch sitting is the best! We just came in from yard work to eat lunch out of heat. We have a lot of wind & sun, but could use rain. Still some planting & weeding to do. Good exercise!!

  22. Judy Gnade

Hi Mary, I scrolled to the very bottom of the blog and found this box for comments. Beautiful day here!

  23. Alice in SW Ohio

Right now I have to touch on the menu for Country Threads to get the comment box to come up along all the comments. I do know Spectrum is doing updates on their system. The past 2 nights my cable & Internet went out about midnight & didn’t come back on until early morning. I was just informed by Spectrum the next 2 nights I’ll experience the same thing. Personally I think this is probably something all the carriers might be doing. It may simply just be an update. So we just need to be patient. It just seems to me that every time this happens it’s due to a system upgrade. It would be wonderful if they would let us know though!!!

  24. Teresa in Indiana

I found a leave a reply button this time through the email
Maybe it really is fixed. Thank you!

  25. Kathy in western NY

I use to get a comment block on the email but now I just click on the blog post and go to the web for the leave a reply box which is absolutely fine for me to still comment in. I think these companies change things around so much how can a normal person like you and I that are computer challenged keep up with way things are done. It’s working and that’s all I care about so I can still read what everyone is up to for the day and how everyone is doing. I’ve met some wonderful folks through your blog so keeping us connected means the world to me however it takes for me to comment or read your post.

    1. Kim T

I also do not have the comment button on my email at this time, and have tried logging out, closing everything, shutting off my phone, and still not there. I can though click on the title of the email and it brings me to the blog, where I can make a comment. Hopefully it will get all fixed, but if not, there is another way to be able to comment.

      1. Kathy in NY

Me too Kim so I’m just glad we have an option that is easy enough to do to leave a comment.

  26. Sue Smith

You are so welcome, Mary. What we all do without your wonderful blog about nothing ?!?
