Tim Update😖, 6-16-26

He’s not here today!! I suppose he got filled up and left – which I’m ok with unless somebody here was mean to him me chased him off. I went out early this morning with his soft food and that food is still in his dish tonight. Animals, like kids, are nothing but trouble and heartache!! But we love them in spite of it.

Hazel
Dottie
This is what Dottie and Sarah have done to my hydrangeas! Anything that comes thru the fence they eat but they’ll never be able to get to the entire row so it’s game on.
Joy’s yucca is blooming!!
1981 – someone asked about the restoration
Today

Get ready for a Yellow Brick Road Show!

And patriotic!

The people I got Dottie and Sarah from are coming to help clean my barn tomorrow morning. I’ve got a plan to lock the chicks and goats on the opposite side of the barn while we work and then move them back when we’re done. Oh, I hope nobody escapes!

I’m working on several things with none of them finished – can anybody identify? Sigh

I’m saying a little prayer for Tim.

I love the photo of Hazel. You should frame that one. She looks so regal on her log.
Love all the quilts today. Using flannel for Yellow Brick Road is a great idea, especially for a baby quilt, which I will need to make soon. I was also taken by the Friendship Star quilts in red, white and blue.
Sweet goats. Looks like they have settled into their new life very well. Lucky little goats.

I agree with Joy about the photo of Hazel. I feel that she is surveying her realm. She is so beautiful. I also agree with you about children and animals. You’ve got to love them, no matter the hard work, sleepiness nights, worry, fear for their safety- on and on. The joy they bring is worth it. I love all the quilts and all the animals! If I were young and could still travel, visiting you and your farm would be on my bucket list! My only animals now are the ones who visit my backyard. I have a sad story about the pair of Easter Phoebes that come every year and build nests under the eaves of my back porch. I noticed the other day they were flying around a lot, nervously. When I was able to go out and check, I found three dead baby Phoebes on the ground under where the nest is. Oh, my heart broke for them. When I went out the next day to gather them – they were gone. I don’t know what kind of predator got to them. So sad!

I love the pics of the YBR quilts. I have purchased 2 YBR patterns and still have not made it. I just need to settle down and concentrate on one thing at a time. My friend used to call it “chicken scratching” when I would jump from one unfinished project to another.
    Hope Tim returns real soon.

Oh Hazel must be playing King of the Castle and you are the rascal. Is that they rhyme. My grandson says that when he climbs on a rock! 😂.
I love all the quilts and yellow brick road in flannel would be early perfect! Hmm. I have some flannel I bought several years ago and yellow brick road would be perfect! I have to pinch myself so I finish what I’m working on. And I should do binding first tooo….5 or 6…..they multiply while on a pile.
We had a little sprinkle this morning! Yaaa! I should really take a picture of the corn field east of the house for you! It is so beautiful!
Was that worn or barn the before picture of your barn? The work you did! When we moved here, Jay bought a 5 gallon bucket of white paint every Friday and we would paint the house some more.. when that was finished he bought a 5 gallon of red for the barn. Oh boy, to be young and full of not stop energy. The stories we could visit about.
Love you & your blog and all the pictures and everyone that writes!

Joy – yes, that was the barn when I moved here in 1979 -it has had a complete restoration inside and out / finished 1997 when we had our wedding reception in the hay mow. Since it was on Flag Day we hung flags from all the rafters – and they’re still there! Very dirty but to get them down would require scaffolding so we won’t. The next people who live here can take them down.

Well I was hoping Tim would stay awhile. Male cats just seem to wander if their not neutered don’t they. I wonder where he’s been all this time, too. It does sound like he might have gotten locked in someplace. Life has been interesting here, too. In April I had a new hot water heater put in. Afterwards I kept hearing water running, but couldn’t find where. Just got my water bill to the tune of $534.! As long as I keep the main valve shut off to the house there’s no leak. This has been interesting. Even the plumber can’t figure out where the break is & where the water is going! I just got a call from the company that will video the lines & see where the break is…. but can’t get to me until next Tues! And I was going to cancel our trip to Grand Rapids, MI, but I can’t do anything here, might as well go. We do know the break is inside the house. Oh I can’t wait for the plumbers to jack hammer up my flooring to get to this leak. 😡 All my Yellow Brick Road quilts have been given away as gifts & I’m not sure I have pictures of them. It’s a great quilt pattern & always turns out pretty. Love pictures of Hazel & your baby goats! And what a transformation on your barn, so pretty!

Alice – $534!!!! Your water bill? Who is responsible for this? I hope you don’t get stuck with the bill – good grief! I would be livid. Yes, the barn became handsome again, didn’t it?

Such beautiful quilts!! I have the yellow brick road pattern but haven’t made the quilt yet. It’s on my list. I’m hoping Tim will be ok and soon come back to your barn. I have a friend that feeds two feral cats in her yard. The female is always there to eat but the male is hit or miss. She worries about him.
I hope your barn project goes well.
I had to buy a new dryer today to be delivered Thursday. It’s always something.

All the varieties of Yellow Brick Road quilts are wonderful! The patriotic quilts are beautiful, too!
I hope the barn project is successful and no animals are misplaced.😁

Yes, I hope Tim is ok and comes back safely!
We had a good rainy day yesterday and my Texas sage is blooming again, that quick. 🥰

Beautiful quilts tonight Mary. i really enjoy reading about and seeing all of your animals and life on your little farm. So cozy! I will be keeping Tim in my prayers as well. I call it “circling” when I work on something, get distracted or walk to a different part of the house and then work on something there. So yes, I can sure identify. Pretty much the story of my days!

Ginger, I love your word “circling”. I do a lot of that. It sounds much better than forgetting or being distracted. I’ll be using that one a lot.

My daughter calls doing something else and leaving the main task that has to be done—‘avoidance work’…she is right, of course! I have projects that I am avoiding completion on as I have been gardening, I helped my GG plant flower seeds yesterday, and then completed the cleanup of their solo stay sidewalk that sure looks better now that the weeds in between the stays are removed, and I also weeded to the outside edges as well! She helped with this too! I have to weed gardens today…repeat. Plus I have to get out to Camden State Park to check Bluebird houses. All in a days work. I love the sun-up early in the mornings…soon to start going the other way on the equinox. I too, love the YBR quilt pattern, all mine have been given away. I had no idea it was so well-liked! I find it fun to make along with the color combinations and block layout, always exciting. I also have made the mini-brick road table runner also a Terry Atkinson creation! The patriotic quilt shows are so nice! They are spectacular.

Cynthia – all that weeding! This is why I don’t garden in the ground – it’s a back killer. You had a very busy day!

          1. Cynthia in Minnesota

I have 7 smaller gardens…and I weeded all but two today…I love it when I get done weeding them I stir up the dirt so it’s fluffy now. Perennials have a lot of spaces in between where the little weeds sprout. I wish I could say they are all gone, but the weeds never end. I agree that getting down to ground level isn’t for sissies.

      2. Ginger S in New Hampshire

Thanks Charlotte. I am a former teacher and every year setting up my room and packing it up at then end of the year I “circled”. Eventually everything got. And that seems to be how I operate with my quilts and other projects. Circle on!!!!
