A good friend became a grandma for the first time today and Margaret became a great grandma! So exciting – texts flying back and forth until finally – he’s here! His name is Jory and he weighed almost 9 lbs. I can’t wait to see him!

Hankster was here today – where was my camera? Keeper has been exhausted tonight, too, after a full day of tearing around – in the very wet yard.

I’m still enjoying the cat pictures! Thank you for playing the cat game with me!

Look at those markings!

And let’s not forget the quilts!

Hazel had a rough day, too.

Thanks again for playing the “cat game”! We’re not done tho – I know there are more cats out there plus we have two new members of the Card Shower Game that I’ll be telling you about so grab a couple of cards to send.

The cat photos are sweet and some of the positions are hilarious! “Thin Spaghetti” is my oldest granddaughter’s cat. She went to a Cat Cafe and came home with a rescue. She didn’t want to change his name but he is now known as “Sketti”. He is very sweet and smart- he’s a snuggler and she even taught him to shake hands (paws!) but he learned how to open the door on his own. Those lever handles are easier for those of us with hand issues, but they are too easy for our smart pets. Sketti escaped once but they keep a close eye on him now.
I love to see Hazel’s adventures! She was really worn out from play.

Hi Mary, About the time Mortie showed up at your house, my cousin dropped Smokey off. He had found him walking down the middle of a country road. He just knew “I would take care of him”. Smokey was so
thin and weak I hated to even pick him up. I took him to the vet and after eye ointment, medicine for ear mites, antibiotics and wormer he has grown and is such a handsome boy. He is very ornery and since we only have older cats he isn’t too popular with our other cats. All of the cats we have had have been rescue cats or dropped off at our farm! When I took Smokey to the vet she just laughed. I told her please do not call me the crazy cat lady when I leave!!

Valarie – I love it!! Mortie and Smokey – vagabonds looking for love! Mortie was certainly healthier than Smokey but you got him all fixed up! Thank you for that kindness. My farmer neighbors around here treat their cats like squirrels! Smokey reminds me of Gracie – another vagabond – I attract them like you do.

Mary , you know what I say? What goes around comes around. So in their golden years or their next life those who mistreat animals might just find themselves being mistreated. I tell my kids you’ll live long enough to see it and now they tell me I’m right as they’ve seen it happen.

Linda – Do you know the oriental shorthair cat named Winston? He’s my favorite! His site is called Five Crazy Cats. His owner calls him Winstony and when he makes a sound she calls it a honk! Love him!!!

Beautiful kitties, they sure come in all different colors and color patterns, all of them are beautiful. Hopefully you get the pictures I sent of three of my girls, Greta is hiding under the bed because all Bette wants to do is fight!

Linda – I checked my email for your pictures and can’t find them – please resend.

These cat pictures have been delightful. How people cannot love a cat is beyond me but I don’t have much in common with anyone who isn’t an animal lover. Thanks to everyone for giving us cute pictures to smile at. And to Mary for bringing us all this enjoyment.

I got such a kick out of photo #3 – the way that cat was sitting made me laugh! All the photos are lovely – we love our pets don’t we? They bring us such joy.

    Happy Wednesday Everyone!🥰

Maybe next game “Quilts … WE HAVE MADE FOR OUR FUR BABIES”. I never had Grandkids but had Grandcats. All Grandcats and my cats all have been gifted a quilt.
I have a question for you Mary, how many cats, dogs, geese, goats do you have on your farm? I have trouble keeping up.

    1. Mary Etherington Post author

Mary – haha!!! I have trouble keeping up, too! Years ago I had sooooop many animals and kids who visited with their moms loved it. It was like a petting zoo at the quilt shop. I have 23 chickens, now only 4 geese, 2 goats, 2 dogs, 8 cats in the house, 2 cats in the barn, and 1 parakeet named Steve. At one time I had 7 dogs, 14 cats, 20 goats, 15 geese, guineas, Canada geese, ducks, sheep – while the shop was going great guns with tour busses arriving several times a month. All I can say is I was much younger when I did that. Haha!!

Great cat parade, they are all so cute. Really like all the quilts too. The rains finally stopped and it was warm out. We were installing the floor in the office today. Next week it will be the landing at the top of the stairs and hallways to the main bath and my sewing room. Last it will be my sewing room but it will take a few days as I am going to paint my sewing room when we empty it out. It’s a caramel colour and very dark in the winter. I’m going to paint it an off white. Much nicer to display quilts. Have a wonderful day everyone.

Teresa – a light color is my favorite – I really don’t like colored walls even tho I know it’s very popular now. And you’re exactly right – it’s a perfect background for quilts.

In our previous house I had dark colours and got tired of it. I painted three rooms a buttery pale yellow and loved it. I kept thinking I’d left a light on it was so nice. Then I changed our bedroom from a dark brown (it had creamy white wainscoting on the bottom three feet) to a colour that looked like sand in some light or a green tinted yellow in other light. I loved it. Had we stayed I would have started repainting to paler colours. At this house the whole house, except the three bedrooms, is painted Navajo white- a Benjamin Moore colour which is a very pale yellow and I love it. The three bedrooms are this dark caramel colour and I hate it. In our bedroom I am going to paint the same colour I had in the other house as I had a gallon of paint left over so brought it with me. This time I am going to do board and baton on the bottom 54” and paint that in a creamy white. I can’t wait. With the new floors we are taking out the dark grey carpet upstairs that is quite ugly. I love how bright this house is, we have 4 skylights and it’s so nice even on dreary days.
Thank you for your blog. I really look forward to reading it and all the comments. I go back many times to read new comments too.
Also I like the idea of sending quilt pictures made for animals. I’ve never made one but I did make a polar fleece jacket for my son’s pig once. Oh my goodness that was hilarious. She loved it. I will try to find the picture and send it to you.

Oh, Teresa, I hope you find the picture of your sons pig in his jacket! Too funny! Jan in MA

Too funny: Sketti opening the door, Eddie sleeping, Butters in the tree, and Chester Jeffrey stretched out full length. The quilts are beautiful today, especially the flying geese quilt. Funny dog cartoon, too. Thanks for my end of day chuckle.
