WINDY, Again! 4-5-21

How will I ever get the yards cleaned up with 40 mph winds? I went out early today while it was pretty nice but here it is noon and the wind is so strong I can’t rake. Grrrr. When spring first comes it all looks so overwhelming but once I get started, there’s nothing I’d rather do than work outside and I’m sure many of you feel the same, especially you farm wives who know it comes with the territory! Haha!

Who loves a great house quilt? No one more than Connie! Here is the latest house called “Somebody’s Home” which measures approximately 28″ x 38″. “Somebody’s Home” is now available in our online store. Please refer to the directions about downloading your purchased pattern.

Connie is working on another house quilt now – why don’t YOU start making small house quilts? They look great hanging as a group on a wall or stairway wall which is how Connie displays her collection.

Remember Connie’s #2, the Red Cross quilt?

Its always nice when spring arrives and it make a body want to work outside. Most of our spring weather is done and we are into mowing the yard every 4 or 5 days. Flowering trees are blooming all over town and I await my peonies to be popping up. Connies house quilt is adorable and I really enjoy seeing what others are sending you to share.

Darn it, I can’t watch the game tonight. I have a bass club meeting exactly at game time that I can’t get out of for any reason as I’m the club Treasurer. I’ll be rooting for the Zags! I hope they win!

Mary I have at least 3 house quilts but I can’t begin another project. I have so many and a few I may never finish. as in add batting, backing and quilting it. I’ve lost interesting a few of them.
I love connies new project…..so love it. And I so love cute cute Siri. Such a sweet face. I am doing 3 pet jobs of caring for kitties this month so I will get my kitty fix but it’s not the same as having my own kitty here. Someone said to me yesterday they can’t get another pet as it’s so very hard to let them go and it certainly was for me. Yes, there are many pets that need homes but I would need a pet that outlives me as letting go is too hard on me. Decisions-Decisions. I do miss having my own.
Does Siri’s owner live near by and travels a lot? I think you’ve had her 2-3 times already. So very sweet…….love love her sweet face

Donna O – Siri’s owner lives about 2-1/2 hours from me by Des Moines but she works for the USDA as a vet tech and has been traveling to give Covid shots. I’d like to bring Siri into the house but she’ll hide and I won’t find her! So it’s better to keep her safe!

We also went out early this morning to finish raking up ALL THE LITTLE STICKS and blow the leaves out of the shrubs. I am really glad we did because by the time we finished at around 12:30 it was time to make lunch and the wind came roaring into town, we were going to eat lunch on the deck but the wind made that a questionable choice. We worked on it for a while yesterday and I am glad we did because now it is done – for now. But I do know that my “rakin’ muscles” are really tired right now lol.

Sherry Whalen – I wish I could say mine was done – for now! Hoping for some nice days with no wind so I can keep working. After the yard, I have to clean out the barn!! Ugh.

Love the quilts.. especially Connie’s house quilt and Diane’s from Colorado. Diane’s is a color combo you don’t see often.

Yes. Will definitely be watching NCAA basketball tonight. After the Gonzaga vs. UCLA game I hope my heart can take it. That game was so so exciting. Both teams deserved to win it.

We haven’t had a lot of wind this week, knock on wood! I’m sure it will find us some day. It is good to do errands without wind.
I’m working on my lesson plan for jail, because I have no idea what they have and what shape it’s in, I think we will start with a 9 patch. Scrappy 9’s are always pretty.
Love seeing the DD’s, always inspiring.

I also love your quilts and your blog!

Absolutely love Diane from CO’s critter quilt. Is it a panel, if I may ask?
Count me for the game tonight.

Love all the quilts. Connies new house quilt is great, a new twist on the usual house patterns. And I absolutely love the variation on the border of the blue Red Cross quilt. What a wonderful way to use the leftover scrap squares from other quilts.
I agree with you Mary, there’s nothing I’d rather do on the first spring days than go outdoors and work at cleaning out the flower beds. New shoots are poking through the ground, hyacinths and daffodils are putting up buds and we can enjoy God’s magnificent world and forget about that nasty covid and wearing masks as we dig and clean out last year’s dead leaves. Just goes to prove that God’s still in control and after a bad winter, He has brought forth the wonders of spring. Enjoy it everyone. It’s the time of rebirth. Thank you Mary for sharing your life on the farm with us.

Will be watching the game tonight, too. UCLA almost did it. I am afraid the Zags might not make it. I’m not rooting for either one, just want a good game. Looking forward to volleyball games, go Badgers.

We will certainly be watching the game tonight! The last one keep us on the edge of our seats!!
It has been so windy for weeks now. Jerry has started
With raking but, can’t get very far! Cheer them on tonight!!

That last game was so exciting; hope tonight will be a good game. Such beautiful weather here in Ohio the last few days. The flower beds are calling!

Loved the quilt show and Siri is so adorable sitting in that foam mattress. Connie’s house block is adorable and love it. I just love to make house quilts as they are my favorite to make but I can only have so many. It was really windy here in northern Arizona too. Couldn’t get even the front porch swept off cause the debris was coming right back at me. I am ready to get outside and do something tho’
Have a great day and enjoy Siri’s visit.
