Here are shots from last night:

We couldn’t see outside at all – I stepped outside and couldn’t see a light from here to town! Such wind and such blowing snow!!
This is today.

This afternoon we’ve been having stretches of ground blizzard conditions. By the end of the week we’re going to have spring weather!
I’ve been worried about Tim in the storm – he lives in a box in the woodshed and I knew I couldn’t get him down. This afternoon prayers were answered because Tim was in the barn! He has quite a lot of healing to go thru – his right side especially. His cheek is swollen – I think the abscess is building up again. And he’s limping on his front right leg. I’ve been massaging his cheek hoping to smooth out that abscess. Oh, Tim.

I’m posting this again because I want you to know this is not the exact block that Becky showed in her quilt with 9 patches. If you’re using my star block it’s easy to add a nine patch block of 9 – 3-1/2” squares.
After watching the Oscar’s last night I looked up Sinners and I could watch it free on Prime which I did this afternoon and as usual I don’t see why it got a single award at all. I do this every year – the day after the Oscars I’m enthused to watch a movie and each time it’s bad.
Oh, well – At least I didn’t pay money to watch something that bad.

I love the 2 pictures of your sun room/porch, just so cozy, beautiful. Hope by now you have sunshine and warmth
I did the same thing with “Melania” on Prime. I tried and quit after half an hour.
Mary – you’re a better person than me – I gave it no chance –
March is such a fickle month, especially in the mountains here in Colorado. Our weather forecasters are trying, but they seriously have no chance here 🙂 There are so many micro-climates, depending on the altitude, whether the winds are upslope or downslope, and about a zillion other WhoKnowsWhat. The forecast for our area was “flurries with no accumulation”. OK, that works for me. Except that the snowfall was 14 inches of Spring Snow — that heavy wet stuff. Our sheepdog who loves snow was in absolute heaven, and the Westies stayed in bed 🙂 🙂 Today has been 70 degrees with blue sky and sunshine, and water just pouring off the roof as the snow melts. I have learned not to waste time and energy shoveling in the Spring, because it will literally melt within hours.
Glad you didn’t get the accumulation others got, lucky your power didn’t go out with those winds. Our snow is gone and now we are getting the lovely atmospheric river. In other words it’s going to be pouring rains for days. It looks like November outside today it’s so dark as the clouds are very low in the sky.
Mary do you have any left over antibiotics you could put in Tim’s food. I feel for him having an abscess. He’s lucky he has you and now that you can pet him he gets love. We have two barns cats inside right now because they were just spay and neutered. They sleep in a large dog crate so they don’t open up the stitches as they are such crazy climbers in the barn. They will go back out in a few more days.
I am not much of a movie goer/watcher and would rather have a book in hand any day. These days the only time I watch a movie is when I am hand binding or quilting. My patience runs thin fast, so I frequently don’t get past the first 10 minutes of most. The last movie, my opinion only, of course, I saw worth watching to the end AND immediately put in the re-watch category is “Walk in the Woods” with the (wonderful, unmatched) Robert Redford and my other personal fav Nick Nolte. So glad the Sundance Kid had another good buddy to share with whom to share an adventure.
Thank you so much for the star pattern. I can see a quilt in my near future using that block.
I am glad you can touch Tim and show him some comfort. Could you get him to take some antibiotics mixed in canned food? Barn cats can be so hard to change their ways. We’ve had many through the years, but none presently.
Our daughter in Traverse City MI area got over 2 1/2 feet of snow this weekend. I can’t believe she didn’t loose power.
We celebrated the Oscars by watching “All Creatures Great and Small”. I’ve learned that Hollywood’s idea of Inspiration and mine are totally different these days. Now I really sound like the curmudgeon I have become! I took a screen shot of the quilt pattern today in hopes that I can make it sometime soon. I made the mistake of buying a sewing machine that is out of my league and resist going to my sewing room to deal with it. I really didn’t realize how complicated it would be to operate and was bowled away with all it could do. I so hope Tim is able to recover from his injuries. He’s lucky to have someone that cares about him and is doing their best for him.
We haven’t had snow here on the Atlantic coast, although we did get snow a few weeks ago. But yesterday the schools were closed because of severe thunderstorms, high winds and a tornado watch. This old lady stayed home, too!
Thinking about Tim, and wishing he’ll improve. It’s so hard to help a kitty like him. A vet told me once: “Cats are good healers. They told us at vet school that if we could get all the parts in the same room, the cat would probably get better.”
Not sure how much snow we got, maybe an inch or so. Hard to tell with the strong winds we had. Thankfully, no wind today. Yesterday was a baking day. I promised Ron an Apple pie, his favorite. While the oven was hot I decided to bake the big package of bacon I had bought at Costco. I then freeze it & take out just what I need when I fix breakfast. Then decided to make granola & will freeze some of that for future use. I like granola with yogurt. Boots goes for a spa treatment today & he sure needs it! I’m hoping to have a bit of time to sew today. So looking forward to warmer weather this weekend! I’ve just about had enough winter, but the high winds were the worst!!
Happy St. Patrick Day everyone. Just about to put the cornbeef/ cabbage dinner into the crock pot for later. Also chilling the Irish beer & butter. Key Lime pie for dessert. Turned freezing last night here in Columbia. Had to cover my orange tree and my 2 Bubblegum bushes which were just blooming. Thought for the day: God Reads Knee Mails. Enjoy the day everyday.
That was quite the storm. I hope it was the last hurrah. Cold again here this morning. Warm coming to SW Iowa.
Bet no one has heard about the fires burning in NE. Thousands of acres. It’s not CA so very limited news about it. This is farmland and grazing land gone. So sad,
Sew day here with a couple of quilters and lunch out.
South Dakota has fires too! We get reports about Nebraska everyday. So sad. The area and smoke reports are unbelievable.
I also watched Sinners and was totally disappointed! What a waste of a couple of hours. I was doing ok until the flesh eaters entered – then I was done. I do not enjoy fake and that certainly wasn’t anything that would cheapen.
I worry about Tim also. Poor kitty!! I hope warmer weather gets here and he can begin to heal. Take care in this awful weather.
Elaine – oh, I’m so glad it wasn’t just me being conservative / what a stupid movie!
The grandkids are with us for spring break and I promised them we would go see Hoppers. 2 child tickets, one senior ticket = $47!!! That’s is why I will wait for movies to come to tv.
More snow this afternoon, but warmer weekend. Thank goodness for my nice warm sewing room.
What to do with Tim?? Hopefully warm weather will help him heal. You are so good to him. ♥️
Mary, would your vet sell you a syringe of long acting antibiotic for Tim? Those shots are pricey but wonderful as it keeps working 10-14 days.
Rosalie – probably but I’d still need help giving it to him. He freaks if he hears a different voice than mine.
I hope the snowy season has moved beyond us in central Wisconsin. We got 24 inches on the 14th, plowed twice and then dealt with what the city plow dumped in the end of our driveway. On the 15th we woke to another 6 inches mixed with sleet and freezing temps. We plowed twice to clean our driveway and also what the plow dumps. Thinking this might be the end we woke on the 16th with high winds, another few inches and over half our driveway drifted shut. We waited until the plow came through to clean this mess up. I hope that is the end of this wintery blast. Our son who lives across the street is gone for business so we do his driveway along with our own, it has been brutal to keep us plowed out. Last week we saw a few Robins and now we wont hit above 20 until Friday. Most of our places of worship and businesses were closed on Sunday & Monday, not sure what Tuseday will bring. Stay safe everyone.
Your home looks so warm and cozy. God bless Tim🙏🙏🙏
We’re getting the snow you had now – and probably more tomorrow. At least we’re not getting the high winds with it, we had those on Friday and earlier this morning. My niece sent a photo from Birmingham AL this morning – they had snow on the ground there, highly unusual!
Great photos – and inspiring! Thanks for the pattern too, I can see one in my future!
Poor Tim – and poor you for all the worry. Independent cats are not easy…
How much snow did you get? We got 14″, a half hour north of us got 18/20″ and I’m watching the news and Kellogg – about an hour away got 25″! The roads are ice and snow packed, and it was really blowing again today. It will be nice to sleep tonight without the wind howling. It’s hard to believe that it is going to be in the 40s/50s by the weekend. On Wednesday, I am going to Ironwood for the rest of the week for retreat! Gotta get packing tomorrow… Sherry
Sherry / oh, it was all basically north of us – we only got 3-4”, if that, but the winds gusted to over 60 mph so what little snow we had really blew around. I’m in bed and just thought the same thing – no howling winds! Please tell Jodee hi from me!
